I am thinking of getting another tuner cardand I was wondering what the difference between the series II PVR-150 and the PVR-250 is?

150 has got a better tuner, and the 250 supports closed captions (150 doesnt).
the 150 retail (non mce one) has a remote, and so does the 250 (the 150 has the 45button remote, the 250 should by now, but it might only come with the older 34 button remote). other than that, they're pretty much the same, oh and the 150 is cheaper.

Then why is the 250 so much more expensive? i doesnt really matter though cause cc isnt really that important. So I guess I'm getting another 150

its an older model card, it costs more to make, the 150 is newer and they improved on production costs, but some people still prefer the 250.

most Linux PVR software supports only the 250, so I guess its supply/demand what's driving the price difference.

No, the PVR150MCE, PVR250MCE, PVR350 and PVR500MCE have FM radio. The PVR150 and PVR250 do not.

(250, 150 then the latest is 350?) Odd way to number them isnt it? I wanted to know the same question, i am in the UK so need a UK model for the PAL-I tuner installed... Many Thanks Ashley

250 and 350 were about the same time, 150 is the newer model which replaces the 250.
the 350 is the only one to have a hardware decoder (via tv out)

Ive been looking at a PVR150, i have just seen the PVR500MCE, question is this..... Where do you download a GOOD software decoder (although not overly worried as i am removing a PVR350 and putthing in a PVR150 or 500 and MVP's)? Will i be able to get 2000 drivers for a PVR500MCE as its supposed to be an XP Media machine only card or am i stuck with a PVR150 purly over the driver issue? ALso i cant download this tweak tool, anyone else got the latest version (tweaks the Hauppauge image settings for encoding) http://www.cask-of-amontillado.com/pvr_tweak.html Many Thanks Ashley |
