I use Pocket DVD wizard to convert videos I have recorded in gppvr to a format usable on my PDA. It works fine but takes quite a long time.

Can anyone tell me if I can change the recording setting in gppvr to record directly into a file format useable in a PDA, or is this a completely different process altogether?

Thanks

I haven't seen a good .mpg viewer for the pocket PC. I haven't looked either.... I have played with DVD to Pocket PC, and it makes .wmv files. They actually don't look toooo bad considering it to the movie Hitch and made it 150Mb!!. What is your gold in size of file? Also, I don't know how large a file pocket PC can handle. I will try and find that out or test it. I have a 5Gb PCMCIA drive that I can use in the addin sleeve for my iPaq. It is fat32, so 4gb is the limit.

The software I use does a good job at both ripping DVD's and converting mpegs or AVI's to .wmv's. It will compress a full length DVD to just under 256M and a 30 minute tv show to around 60Meg. I have a 512M SD card so those file sizes are pretty useful.

The painful part is the time involved. I ride a comuter train everyday so I am always recording tv shows to watch on the train. The coversion process is as long as the show - ie a 30 min show takes 30 minutes to convert.

My hope was I could streamline the process a bit by recording straight to the compressed wmv file format. Doesn't look like thats possible.

I appreciate your note
Thanks
