Hello all,
After battling for quite a bit and coming up with inconsistant results I come to you guys again for some pointers.
1. Goal:
a. To use the ShowAnalyzer text file and Cut out the commercials ,
b. and while doing so convert to DivX (I like the Home theater profile),
c. and convert the audio to mp3
d. And do all this within a factor of 4 times the original recording time on my Athlon 1800+xp.
What I've done so far:
I wrote some scripts (unfortunately in cygwin bash) to automate the process of selecting frame ranges and such and I have a template of saved processing settings for virtualdubmod which I use to generate a script file. The script works, but a bit questionable when launched from postprocessing.bat - its a bit slow (have to run more tests). And, the reason for choosing virtualdubmod? it can do the goal items.
I'm getting excellent results with Divx HomeTheater settings and mp3 audio. About 40% of original mpeg file size with very acceptable video.
Problem:
here's the big problem. The virtualdubmod goes into livelock (not a clue what that means) while transcoding. My tests were on smaller files where I didn't have this issue, but when I let it loose on a 1.5GB file it hung indefinitely in the livelock mode.
Does anyone have any clues on this livelock, or if there is a better method to do what I'm trying to do?
Thanks!
Venkman
