Hi Sub,

I'm really keen to get this remote working correctly on gbpvr (and obviously many others as well, judging by the threads), but we need your support or the support of a fellow developer to write the code.

I'm happy to lend you my remote. I live in Christchurch so postal cost is not much.

Are you willing?

I'm not really that keen on loan equipment, so I'll pass. I only really like to support equipment I have in front of me, so that I can use whenever I need to look at bugs etc.

I'll contact my ATI guy again and see if they can supply a remote.

Thanks Sub.

In the interium, are you able to help with the volume mapping problem?

Gbpvr is configured for MCE remote which allows the Cyberlink basic buttons to work. If gbpvr is shutdown, the Cyberlink volume buttons works the windows master volume by default (good), however when I launch gbpvr this functionality is overwritten and the volume up/down is mapping to some unknown volume control in LiveTV and doesn't work at all on FM radio. Is there a way to stop gbpvr from overwriting the default windows volume mappings?

Sub,

I think you should ask either PowerColor or Sapphire, which sell their 550 Pro with this Remote Control. ATI is selling their card with their own Remote, so obviously, they cannot give you a Cyberlink Remote Control...

You could even ask directly to Cyberlink, but since your competing with their product, I suspect they wont we willing to help you out....

@sub: Do you know LinkedIn? I just sent an introduction request to some manager in Sapphire. Let's hope he will help.

Also, you didn't answer about my offer to donate a card...

Cool, hopefully something comes of it. It always helps to have contacts. Its in their best interests to have applications like GB-PVR working with their hardware - hopefully they also see it that way...

I certainly wouldnt expect it, but if some of you guys want to chip in and send me a donation to buy a Powercolor card and remote, I'd be happy to take it. The cheapest local price I could find was NZD$139 (about US$96), from http://www.pbtech.co.nz/index.php?item=TVNPOW12028. (I'm GST registered so I'd be able claim the extra tax back that I had to pay)

True, but the CyberLink remote is CyberLink's, not theirs... I tried to find someone from CyberLink in LinkedIn and there is a VP Sales & Mktg, but I cannot contact him/her through any one of my current contacts.

Let's do the following:
  1. Wait ~3-4 weeks to see what is the result of the Sapphire contact and your ATI guy.
  2. Post a thread asking for people who are interested if they are willing to chip in.
  3. When the 3-4 weeks are over (we should set a date), you can email me how much was collected, and I will donate the rest. If the collection becomes more than necessary, I will donate something anyway.

I'm willing to contribute to the cost if GoodGuys draws a blank.

Hi fellas,

I sent a support request to CyberLink, to see if I can get them to ship a sample to Sub. Here's what I got:
Quote: <snip>
In regards to your issue, I wish to inform you that Cyberlink can never shpped their Universal remote bundled with any other hardware device. I believe you are using some other brand of Remote control which came with your hardware device.

However, in order to provide you more information regarding this same, please provide us the snapshot of the remote control and brand name and model number for that remote.

Please feel free to contact us back for any further clarification in this issue or for any assistance related to Cyberlink Products.

Thank you and best regards
I will snap a photo and send them... See what happens.
FYI.
