Hi
My question is this. I have a MVP, Nothing else, I only bought it to basically watch back video files/music that i have on my computer. Now Im not the biggest fan of the software that comes with it (clunky slow annoying) but the main thing that annoys me is the fact that any time I have a new folder with lots of files in I have to go into the software and add that folder.

Now

A: is it worth me installing the GB-PVR software do you think? (In your opinion is it better or is it mainly for if your streaming tv through your computer)

B: Does the GB-PVR software let you point to a folder then any sub folder you add it will automatically pick up? (If that makes sense?!?!)

Cheers for your advice/opinions

That is how I got started. I had the older Hauppauge WinTVPVR-PCI card which is not supported by any 3rd party software. (Excellent quality though). I bought a MVP and it played it's files fine, and I really liked the ability to view my pictures on it. Then I found GBPVR, and LOVED the ability to do even more on my TV with all of the plugins. Then I ended up buying a GBPVR compatible card (Hauppauge PVR 150) right away to make full use of it.

So basically, if you have a MVP, I would definately try GBPVR, even if you don't capture TV. You can even setup a capture source, and use it as a TV guide, even though you wouldn't be able to record from it.

And yes, if you have it setup to your videos folder, you can browse a folder structure. Same thing with pictures.
3x MVPs (not used anymore)
XBMC
Hauppauge 150 via SVideo
Comcast Digital Cable
Motorola HD Cable box channel changed via Firewire
Vista Home Premium with RDP hack
AMD Athalon 64 5000+
340gig sata, plus 80SATA+3x160IDE Drives in XP machine for storage.
