i chose a show to record that happened to start exactly at the same time as an already-programmed show ended. but i have end-padding set to 5 minutes... shouldn't that generate a conflict somewhere? it didn't complain either when i entered the second program, or when i selected "conflicts". which one takes priority in that 5 minute overlap?

As I understand it, if you have only one cap. source, the second recording will start at the allocated time (including its pre-padding) regardless of the first having post-padding.

To be safe when I had only one cap. source, I'd manually edit the back to back recordings so the first had no post-padding and the second had no pre-padding. Even then, I would sometimes lose the end of the first or the beginning of the second depending on how accurate the TV stations were with their timing.

Pre/Post padding is considered optional, and will only be applied if the tuner isnt already scheduled to be in use for some other task. As such, this wont cause a conflict.

ok, it's a feature Smile

then a wish-list item would be an option to make padding mandatory. if you find out about the overlap when you schedule, you might be able to choose a different airing to avoid it...

No, I wont be doing this.

If you add an additional capture device, will try to retain the padding on all recording if possible.

sub,

oh well. i realize you have to choose your priorities. i would much rather record one show that isn't truncated than two that are. having to manually check the pending list to look for conflicts is no fun.
