Is there a way to playback recordings in 'compressed time'. That is, play them back slightly faster than what was recorded (for example, a 1hr recorded show played back in 55minutes). I know the audio may start to sound funny when it's sped up too much, but there might be a point where it still sounds acceptable. My ultimate goal with this feature would be to watch a 1 hour show in 30 minutes (once all the commercials are removed and recording is sped up)!

Good idea, on my Panasonic DVR there is an option to watch shows in 1.5x. The sound is a bit fast but understandable. I have watched shows at 1.5x and they are quite watchable.

I thought about this today as I was watching many TV shows and trying to catch up from taking some time off during the holidays. I remembered that there was a feature like this for mythtv and found out it is called timestretch. How would we go about speeding up playback of recordings. I'm guessing we'd have to speed things through WMP.....anybody know if this is possible? Just an idea.

Here is a link for anybody who wants to know about timestretch:

Just arguing with the guys at work about the merits of speeding up watching a recording. I know all the information would go in, but is it really enjoyable? My colleague seems to think it would still be good, I think it’s a waste of time, unless watching a documentary or something. Do people actually do this?

Maybe buy an extra screen so you can watch 2 at a time, one show for each eye/ear. You might have to seperate the audio and seperate the screens with a curtain hanging from between your tv's to your nose.Big Grin

Haha. Sometimes when I'm watching something that I don't have to follow the plot very closely, I find myself skipping ahead by 10 seconds a lot.
