Channel Logo Tool for NPVR (Beta Release)

Folks,

I've updated the most of the CLT system and converted it over to run with NPVR and Windows 7.

I've tested it on Windows 7 64 Bit with NPVR 2.2.6 so works with the current release.

Differences from Old CLT (for GBPVR)

I've dropped support for TopupTV and Tivo Websites as Logo sources.
I've disabled the Logo Controls which control skin output
I've disabled the Channel Number Stamping into the Logo Feature (whilst it get a complete rewrite)
Drastic performance increase in the Matching screen so refresh is now about a second from about 25ish seconds with a long list of channels

Hi

After reading the different postings on this issue i haven't found any solution. therefore I post it.

1. problem: on Win7 I have a running GB-PVR (1.4.7). I have used the Channel Logo Tool but this don't produce any logos in the /media/channellogo directory.

2. problem: when I then produce my own .jpg files in this directory, with the exact same name as the Channel : channel = RTL2 ; logo file = RTL2.jpg they don't appear in the TV guide

I have tried different combinations of logo file names without luck. I also tried to find the log file for the tool but can't localize it.

Is it supported by 1.4.7? Im not getting the channel logos to show up. THey are the exact same name, as the channel (for example 39 History or 109 WITIDT i shouldnt have to append the .jpg file extension should i?

How to use with Multiple Lineups and SchedulesDirect?

I have two lineups setup in Schedules Direct. One for analog and one for digital. I am trying to setup channel logos. I already had logos setup for my analog channels. I am running XP SP3. The Channel Logo Tool only shows the previously setup analog channels, so there is no way to assign logos to the digital channels. I also get an exception when entering the mapping screen. The popup has a continue option and it seems to work. Is there a way around this. Can I delete my analog tuners and maybe just map the digital tuners and keep the mapping for the analog channels? And then add the analog tuners back. Or do I need to delete the lineup for analog channels in Schedules Direct, map the digital channels, and then add the analog lineup back? The checkbox for SchedulesDirect Detected is checked. Using CLT 3.73.

UPDATE: I've just noticed an entry under Start->All Programs->Channel Logo Tool - there's an item "Microsoft Primary Operability Assemblies 2005". I clicked on that and it appeared to install additional files. Now, when I run the Channel Logo Tool, it no longer crashes. Am I being daft? I didn't see any reference to this in the tool's installation documentation. Anyway, maybe this post will help others . Thanks for the handy utility!

I've installed this tool without any difficulty, but when I run it, it crashes at a point with an unhandled exception indicating that it can't load file "Microsoft.mshtml". This occurs after it has opened a window and allowed me to drill down through selecting station icons. When I click on "next", the crash occurs. This is the point in the instructions as follows: "Select an icon of a channel you’re familiar with. CLT will load and display a series of icons including the one you’ve selected. These will be in alphabetical order. When this page has loaded, click “Next”. ".

Attached is a .txt file with the full output from the crash message.

I am running on a stable HTPC running Windows XP SP3 as the only user with full admin rights. .Net 1.1 and 2.0 SP1 are installed (if that matters). GB-PVR (latest version) runs well.

Logos Won't Appear in TV Guide

I just can't get the channel logos into the tv guide. Everything goes smoothly through the whole Channel Logo Tool process according to the wiki page, but they just don't show up in the guide. I am running gbpvr v1.3.7 and mc2xml as my epg grabber. Please help...

I've changed the system I use to generate the XML Channel Lists, It's will be regenerated each night at midnight. I've been testing this for a last month and it appears to working fine. It correctly handled the change in channel names from UK GOLD to Watch for example.

logo tool disaster...help!

My gbpvr install has been running very happily for months now, so I thought it might be a good idea to add in missing logos using the logo tool.

It seemed to work but when I ran gbpvr config after to change the channel order I got an installer popup looking for the gbpvr.msi file. It went back and forth on this installer before I finally got the config window.
Now my installion is very sick and slow, and I feel sick too thinking about how much work I've just destroyed.

Has anyone come across this before? Is there an issue with 1.2.13 and the logo tool? Can you wreck an install with logos? Is there a set size or format (jpg, png etc?)

Channel Icon's are there one day and gone the next

I have just installed the Channel Logo Tool. After exporting logo's to GBPVR and clicking finished, they do show in my channel guide. After closing GBPVR and subsequently opening again I find that all the logo's are gone. I am puzzled. Am I doing something wrong? I have removed the numbers from the logo's before exporting to GBPVR as was posted elswhere in this forum.

Hi there,

I manually downloaded the channel icons from my cable provider's TVGuide website and supplemented those with the few missing icons from Google icon searches. Most of the icons are 30x20 (I assume this is fine). The original images were all in the .gif format. I ran the wonderful Channel Logo Tool, and painstakingly matched all of the channels and exported them to the ChannelLogos folder with the options. None of the channel logos showed up. I searched the GB-PVR wiki for documentation, and experimented with different settings for the item in the GB-PVR config file. The original value, I believe, was 5 (unlisted). I tried 3 (app decides which to used based on the number of channels with icons available) and 1 (number + name), which appears to match the filenames (26 TNT.gif, for example). None of these settings helped, even after restarting all the background recording settings. I also tried batch converting all of the files to .jpg format, adding the conversions to the same directory (ChannelLogos) after reading a post indicating that .jpg would work. This did not help.

I am new to GB-PVR, HTPC setups, and even cable tv as a whole, but proper channel icons would sure be welcome. I'm having a hard time navigating the many channels.

I've updated it to support both Radio Times and Digiguide Channel names.

both EPGs use slightly different names for the channels. so the XML lists on my server have been updated to reflect which EPG source.

Tool fails in Vista (with workaround)

Just in case anyone else wrestles with this problem; I couldn't solve this with documentation.

In Vista you need to go and find the channel logo tool application under C:\Program Files, then right-click and say "Run as administrator". If you don't it fails to save the logos to the GB-PVR directory, AND doesn't bother to tell you it failed either...

How can I delete everything related to channel logo from my system?

Channel Logos are not displaying in TV Guide after I installed additional tuners (HDHomeRun). Basicly only afew a showingl, most are not. When I try to export it tells me to delete logos which I think is not correct.
