Netflix Viewer DB Download Problem

I am not sure where the correct forum is for this question. However:

I have installed the Netflix Viewer but can not get the database installed. I have tried 5 or 6 times and once it reaches about 2 minutes into the download it just shuts down (the download app). Let me know what info you want and I will present it. Help?

Movie Parties

I was talking to someone today, just about netflix movie parties. Me being in Canada and having limited content, and her being in the United States and having a wide variety of movies... Just wondering since the content is limited in Canada, would I be able to watch a movie from her list, if the party was made or created by her? Joined her party... Even tho the movie may not be an option on my movie list.

example: She starts up a movie party viewing The Green Mile

The Green Mile is not on my netflix movie list or unavailable

Would I still be able to watch it, through her party?

StreamIt and Hauppauge 45 button remote

For those of you using a Hauppauge 45 button remote, as I am, I'm posting several sections of my IRREMOTE.INI file that I've tested to work with StreamIt. Here they are:

Make sure you also add the 2 app names to the [Applications] section.

StreamIt from Netflix (Alpha NPVR version)

Requirements:

NPVR
.Net Framework 3.5 SP1
ADO.NET Data Services Update
- Win7/2008 Server R2
  or
- all other OSes
An active Netflix Account with WatchInstant capability (For playing movies only. All other features can be tested without an account.)

Known issues:

Plugin: Episode titles are not in the correct order.
Plugin: Skins need some work.
Player: Trick play commands can be unreliable. Trick play (ff/rew/pause) should not be attempted until at least 30-60 seconds after the video starts playing.
Player: Trickplay does not work in True Fullscreen mode.
Player: CTRL-P does not seem to work in True Fullscreen mode and Enter/OK should be used for Play/Pause.

Installation:

Unzip the files to the appropriate locations.
Add the following to config.xml in the section:

Run StreamIt.Netflix.Updater.exe located in the "[NPVR Program Folder]\Plugins\StreamIt" folder.
By default, it will download all titles and the posters and update "C:\Users\Public\NPVR\Plugins\StreamIt\Netflix.db3" database and save the posters to "C:\Users\Public\NPVR\Media\Netflix\BoxArt".
If your data folder is in another directory, you will need to override the defaults.

Override Options for the updater (not required):

"datadir=" will save the boxart and database to the directory specified. This should be set to the NPVR main data folder. The subfolder will automatically be appended. ("datadir=C:\Users\Public\NPVR")
"limit=" will limit the number of titles if you want a quick result. 500 titles are downloaded at a time so if you only want the first 500, set the limit to 499. ("limit=499")

Plugin Usage:

Once you have updated the database, Run NPVR, select "Netflix" from the NPVR menu (it may take a few seconds for the list to populate and the screen to show).

CTRL-S (Stop button) will change the sort order.

CTRL-B (Blue button) will switch between List and Covers View.

Selecting a collection will display the sub items. Selecting an item will launch the player and play the title.

Player commands:

Enter/OK and CTRL-P (Play button) will operate as Play/Pause. (CTRL-P does not seem to work in True Fullscreen mode and Enter/OK should be used.)
CTRL-Right arrow will fastforward the video.
CTRL-Left arrow will rewind the video.
Right/Left arrows will step through the video. Select enter to start watching at the selected point.
F7 will cycle through view modes (Windowed, Psuedo fullscreen, True fullscreen).

The player's size (in windowed mode) and the player's last view mode will be remembered. However, if the last view mode was True Fullscreen, the player will start the next time in Psuedo Fullscreen.

Long awaited Netflix update status.

Now that NPVR has been released publicly, I can announce that I have resumed working on a plugin for Netflix Watch Instantly. It is not quite yet ready for release but it soon will be. Look for it over the next few days.

The "bad" news:

This is a complete code rewrite due to the changes with both NPVR and the Neflix data service. So the first release will just be a basic plugin that lists all available Watch Instantly titles by name with a basic player. Additional features like queue management and list sorting will be added after the initial release.

The good news:

The new plugin pulls the current list of available titles at the when first activating the plugin (or selecting "Refresh List"). The data is pulled directly from Netflix which means that there is no interim server like there was before so you do not have to wait me to update the list.
Refreshing the list takes minutes depending on your connection.
After the initial basic plugin is released, the code will be made available on Google Code and additional project developers will be assigned (all of those who offered previously). This way the project will hopefully continue with or without me and other developers can step up to add additional features.

Other thoughts:

Everyone should now be on the Silverlight player so there is no downloading of titles to watch later. Everything will be streamed. Silverlight does however create some challenges for trick play with a remote (ff/rew). I can remap remote keys when the custom browser (the player) is in windowed mode but when switching to fullscreen, I cannot remap the keys. So for fullscreen, you will need a programmable remote or programmable remote software like HIP.

Netflix Watch Now for NMT?

I have been reading alot of posts related to the Netflix Watch Now plugin. It looks like there were versions of this plugin that would run on the an NMT. Because Netflix is now all Silverlight does that kill the PCH (NMT) option for this plugin? I have it set up and I can get some movies to play on my GBPVR server but when I try to play the same movie on the PCH it starts playing on my GBPVR server and not on the PCH. Is there any hope for Netflix on the PCH?

I have heard that PCH guys are looking into a native Netflix option but it is really a DRM issue.

Just wondering.

Watch Now crashes immediately from menu

Hey guys, I'm pretty new so go easy on me :o
Just loaded GBPVR, loaded CommonGBPVRUtilities, now I'm trying to get watch now to work. I've configured it through the confugure utility. When I try to select if from the menu in pvrx2 the program immediately crashes, getting the red X. Not sure where to go from here. I've searched all over the web and this forum and I can't find another account of this same problem. Thanks for any help.

Sorry, just confirming. The author postings definitely indicate WIP but some people seem to have this running?

I have the same issue here as perhaps the item mentioned in "troubleshooting", crash on selecting the plugin from the main menu. It's the same error text, where the fix is to start config, change to windowed mode, run PVRX2 windowed, depart with the exit item, change back to non-windowed.

I have done all that several times, and changed from internal player to silverlining and back, no change.

XP here, clean install of 1.4.7, using blue, I'm just loading a few plugins now. IE has my login cookie for netflix.

unable to setup neflix watchnow

I recently installed gbpvr on my system and I started playing around with and it seems to work. I'm running windows vista home on my system. I ran the all of the instructions to install the netflix watchnow plugin and I am able to enable the plugin under the config utility but I don't see it as a option that I can select when I start the gbpvr software. Any help would be appreciated.

Defaults back to internal viewer from Silverlight & icon view crash

Hello all,
whenever I try to select Silverlight as the player and click ok.
I go back to the plugin later and it defaults back to internal player.

And IE plays movies with Silverlight fine outside of gbpvr.

The second issue is if I use the icon view for the plugin, pvrx2 crashes to the desktop after I select a movie for more information.
I can get the information fine with any of the other views (details, list, etc.)

Finally, where do I find my Personal RSS ID?

Crashes when I access it from the menu

Installs ok, config is ok. I am on silverlight and it is selected in the plugin settings. I have checked WMP is set to download usage rights. I can stream a movie in IE. I don't know what else to do?

When in GB-PVR (pvrx2) and I click on the watch now plugin, I get a .Net error and that it can't find the watchnow.serializer or something. I have zipped and attached my logs.

I am pretty good with GB-PVR... but I need help on this one.

Movie Plays but "behind" gbpvr

Hello,

I have the watch now plugin installed and operating except for one problem. When I select a movie to watch it starts and plays but always behind gbpvr. That is, I can hear the sound but can't see the video as the gbpvr interface is always showing. I can close gbpvr and see the movie playing. Any thoughts? This occurs when I display using the primary and the secondary monitors.

No Download Streams Available

Tried to get this plugin up and running.

Installed the latest version and the patch, then got this error when trying to download a movie.

"There was an error while downloading. No download streams available."

Anyone know what is up?
