Hello everyone,
you are patient but I went from Windows to Macos (Mac Studio Ultra) and I am precisely to type what you need to do in this environment to enable the extraction of the EPG.
On Windows it was relatively simple with the execution of a time script, but on Mac reading other themed posts I went to the confusion. As for Windows I purchased Netxpvr UI but I really don't understand how to proceed.

I add that for now I am making the usual script in the Windows environment, then manually copy the EPG.XML file to the Mac .NPVR-Data folder. Obviously so it is an almost daily punishment….

Could you help me?
Thanks

My backend crashed a couple of nights ago while a show was recording.

My launchdaemon immediately restarted the backend, but the balance of the show failed to record. Subsequent scheduled recordings were fine without any human intervention - only the show then in progress failed to complete.

Log attached. It begins at the restart after the backend crash.

I wonder if it was a timing thing? Maybe the backend wasn't ready to record when it tried to continue the recording immediately after it restarted? If that was the case, I think I could work around it.
1st- When I'm watching a show using the NPVR app on ATV, it will randomly freeze. I force close the app, then it can't find the server any longer on my mac. I go to my mac and restart the service and can get back in business but it's not optimal.

How to run NextPVR as a process (without the terminal)

Issue: if you run NextPVR by opening a terminal window (even if automated with a launchagent as previously posted):

you still have nextpvr running in a terminal window, even if the window is hidden

if someone quits terminal, or if nextpvr crashes or is otherwise shut down, you will miss recordings until you detect and correct the problem.

These issues are resolved by using a launchagent or launchdaemon. The following are instructions on how to do it with a launchagent:

unzip and copy the attached launchagent (org.nextpvr.backend.plist) into ~/library/launchagents

set the owner to your username (the name of your home folder). This can be done with this terminal command: chown <username> ~/library/launchagents/org.nextpvr.backend.plist

set the file permissions to 644: chmod 644 ~/library/launchagents/org.nextpvr.backend.plist

this launchagent expects your NPVR folder to be in /applications (specifically, that the path to NextPVRServer.dll is /applications/npvr/NextPVRServer.dll). If you don't want it in /applications, or you want the folder named something other than NPVR, you can edit the launchagent WorkingDirectory and ProgramArguments accordingly, but I have not tested in another directory and there may be bumps due to macOS security issues that will cause the launchagent to fail.

When the above is done, NextPVR will launch automatically when you log into your account. You can launch it by logging out and back in to your account. The keepalive key will keep NextPVR running even if it crashes, etc., until you shut it down manually (as detailed below) or you log out of your account.

You can also manually launch and stop NextPVR with the following terminal commands:

launchctl load ~/Library/Launchagents/org.nextpvr.backend.plist

launchctl unload ~/Library/Launchagents/org.nextpvr.backend.plist

Notes and Limitations:

A potentially significant limitation of using a launchagent instead of a launchdaemon is that a launchagent will require that a particular user be logged into the computer and stay logged in. Accordingly, booting up the computer is not enough to launch NextPVR and if, for whatever reason, the user is logged out or the computer restarts (power outage, for instance) NextPVR won't run until the user is logged in again. Also, if there is more than one user who uses the computer, NextPVR will only run when the user whose account has the launchagent is logged in. These limitations would be resolved by a launchdaemon, which has the same function as a launchagent, but runs system wide on boot up. Writing a launchdaemon that will work with NextPVR is more complicated (for me anyway) and I have not yet managed to get it to work. When I figure it out, I will update.

You can see the purpose of each of the keys in the launchagent by checking the manual (in terminal "man launchd.plist", or just google "man launchd.plist".

I use NextPVR on a MacBook and there are times when I actually do have to turn off the computer. Whenever I turn the macbook back on, I have to always use the "cd NPVR dotnet ./NextPVRServer.dll" command because I can't access the "localhost:8866/index.html" site without doing that first.

Is there a "start" command of some sort that I could always use when that happens? Or even better, is there a way to make NextPVR start automatically on device startup?

Having a problem with scanning channels. I have had NPVR working but there have been channels that have been omitted in scans that I kept attempting to get scanned by retrying but now this keeps occurring. I have uninstalled and reinstalled everything including .NET but to no avail. Keep getting this same error at the end of the scan. Frustrating to say the least.

I read the instructions to install on mac os. It says native, come to find out this is not true. The install consist of a zip with windows files in it. No where near native to mac. Everything runs good though for not being native, except nextpvr will not start on system boot, I have to run dotnet ./NextPVRServer.dll every time I wanna use nextpvr on mac. Again not native. Also the terminal window has to stay open while nextpvrserver is running. Again its not a native app. Could you make a native app for mac os that will run on boot. I use nextpvr on windows and use the kodi pvr addon. It was updated to use 2 or more servers at one time. I was gonna use my mac to reduce the load on my windows pc while watching and recording a show. Since mac don't have a native app for nextpvr, I can't do that.
