I am just getting to grips with key remaps in the clientstore.xml files.
I think that I am getting the hang of it however a successful remap generates an Android notification bubble.

I am using a Harmony hub based remote to control an NVidia Shield. The clientstore file shows that nine of the remote keys are not recognised: KeyCode-F1 to KeyCode-F9. I can remap these in the clientstore as expected. For example:

Code:

<KeyCode-F7>112</KeyCode-F7>

So that: Remote button "Guide" -> Keycode-F7 -> F1 (.net code 112) -> Display TV guide

This works, Uidroid displays the TV guide. However the ShieldTV is displaying a notification bubble with

Quote:KEYCODE_F7 65 137

Displayed for around 2 seconds (image below).

Because I am using an app to switch refresh rates on the fly I am running the Shield with Developer options (for USB debugging and Network debugging) turned on, but temporarily turning them off didn't make a difference. Nor did switching off permissions to display over other apps make a difference.

Is this a setting in either Uidroid, NextPVR or something I've missed in the AndroidTV system that I can turn off to prevent this.

Thanks

I've now left Win7 (WMC) for my live/DVR TV delivery system of Spectrum cable. I instead now use Spectrum's modern internet-based TV delivery through their Spectrum TV app running on a Xumo streaming device, couple with Spectrum's CloudDVR service for DVR.

I still may continue to use Win7 (WMC) for live/DVR of OTA ATSC 1.0, but I'm at least now free to explore other options.

So I've now brought up a Win11 server machine for HDHR/NextPVR server software and recordings storage. And I'm once again exploring using either or both apps to deliver OTA ATSC 1.0 content to the four TVs around my home, as well as to my phone. I am already using Spectrum's internet-based TV delivery technology to do the same thing for Spectrum cable TV service (delivering to the four Xumo streaming devices I've now installed).

HDHR/NextPVR client apps are running properly on ATV4K and Windows11 machines. Haven't yet tried Roku Ultra for both but I will. I will also try the HDHR client app on my LG TVs (no NextPVR client app for LG). I've also successfully run the HDHR client app on my Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra phone.

So far the only problem I'm having is running the NextPVR UIDroid client app on my Galaxy S21 Ultra phone. This is the same side-loaded APK I've had on the phone for a while, and it used to work at least for ATSC 1.0. Didn't work fully for ATSC 3.0, but it certainly did start successfully. And it did work for ATSC 1.0.

Well now it launches and appears to start, but never actually completes its startup. It is stuck with the green and white matrix background and white droid over it on the screen. Never moves beyond that. No way to communicate with it, and there's nothing else on the screen.

What have I overlooked or neglected? Version update I didn't see?

APK: NextPVR UI Client 2.1.14, Target version Android 13, minimal SDK 22, last update 3/17/2025

The subject says it all really.

My current setup - I have an internal wifi network (downstairs) provided by my cable broadband router, upstairs a wifi repeater which connects (via wifi) to the router downstairs and has a hard wired connection to an 8 port hub which connects to my desktop and my npvr server (and other stuff). Downstairs, UiDroid is installed on a "generic" Android box connected to my TV HDMI and it connects to my npvr server using its own internal wifi (it's not hard wired to the router) and it simply finds the server somehow (general scan of any device with port 8866 open?).

Reason for asking - my new-ish server has an M.2 slot specifically for a wifi card and I'd like to install one and setup a hotspot and have the Android box connect directly instead of going through the general wifi network provided by the cable router and upstairs wifi repeater.

Cheers,

Hey all! Long time supporter of UIdroid. I would love if we could change settings to something like up+center and have hold center bring up the menu to record, and just click go to the channel. This option would be awesome, as would support for channel up and down (maybe a config to set what button would do this). Sorry for the new thread for this and I know its a big request. I have supported for a long time and love the app but these options would put it over the edge. I tried using jellyfin but it just isnt as good.

Happened to be working with TV apps of all kinds on my Win10 system today. Upgraded to v7.0.1 of NextPVR Windows client, in support of my SD Flex-4K network tuner. I am running NextPVR server on this Win10 system, including DVR software and EPG guide (through my Schedules Direct subscription which happens to also be used as the EPG Guide data source for my other "production" desktop Win7 Windows Media Center world supporting both OTA ATSC 1.0 via Hauppauge Quad-HD tuner and Ceton cablecard-enabled tuner for Spectrum DRM cable).

Verified that latest (20250315 UI) HDHR client app on Win10 works fine, and it does. Verified that latest (20250315) HDHR client app on my Samsung S21 Ultra phone works fine, and it does.

Then since I haven't run UIDROID on my phone for a long time, I decided to be sure I had the latest version. This forum says it is the new one using MediaX and the version I had installed several years back was for EXOPLAYER. So I downloaded the latest APK and used ADBLINK2 to side-load it onto my phone.

Then I tried to use it. The program launched properly, and even showed the TV Guide correctly. My channels are only the selected local ATSC 1.0 ones that I have interest in, as well as the three non-DRM ATSC 3.0 channels when those version exist.

However when I went to actually play an ATSC 1.0 channel I got sound but no video. Instead I got an error message "unsupported video". Simultaneously the normally green NextPVR icon (in the Windows notification area) went red! I then terminated UIDROID on the phone, and the red NextPVR icon turned back to green for just a brief period, before going gray!!

And now when I try to launch either HDHR or UIDROID on the phone it can't find the "server". I have to re-boot the Win10 system in order to get the NextPVR server working properly again, and showing a green icon.

==> What is this issue with "unsupported video"? Clearly this is then somehow causing havoc with NextPVR server, bringing it down (first to red, and then to gray out-of-service).

I still have the old EXOPLAYER APK. Should I reinstall that version, just to see if it will work?

to try out with my Chromecast With Google TV uidroid setup & as they said they had RF connect ability I expected they would come with a USB RF receiver but they didn't.

I have had a play trying to pair them with the CCWGTV but no luck so far, I expect because I have no idea what buttons need to be pressed on the remotes to go into pairing mode. I also haven't been able to find anything helpful with a web search. Anyone got any idea what I can try??

Version 2.1.14 of UIDroid, latest NPVR (7.0.1.241229)
If I skip 10-15 minutes into a recording in progress, I cannot resume/play from that point. Exit still works.

I didn't include this in the logs, but Resume doesn't work after exit, just get the spinner, but Play does start from the beginning.

I have a couple of oddities when using uidroid that I have no idea how to overcome.

As Martin already knows I am running uidroid using Chromecast with Google TVs (a 4k model sitting room & a HD model bed room) connected through power pass usb-c hubs with wired LAN.

I have a couple of this one
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B085XZ...RJP9&psc=1
and a couple of Dick Smith ones that look pretty much the same.

Now this really weird problem happens after it has been running (mostly) fine for about a month (if not longer)
The remotes will become sluggish to use & after a while like this anything (through Recordings) you try to play will just display a grey screen (with the blue overlay at the bottom I think from memory) & not play.

When this happened (for the second time) recently I suggested the wife re-booted her Chromecast by pulling the power into the hub out for 30seconds & see what happened....
well it didn't help, but she could still watch videos (that she did that night) using the Chromecast from youTube & they played fine.

The next day she decided to give it a longer re-boot & while it was un-powered I went over to the workshop & rebooted the server which hadn't been rebooted for months but it made no difference.
At this point I said to the wife that the last time it went something like this all I did was change over the hub to the one like the one I use for the sitting room so I then changed it over to the one I removed the time before & after the full reboot it now plays recording fine again.

As I said earlier "weird or what?"

The only difference apart for the slight difference in Chromcast models is that at night I 'exit' uidroid from the menu before I turn the TV off where as the wife just turns her TV off.

The second oddity we have is using the remotes in that "at times" they will go into double click mode, ie. trying to do a number skip & select "3" will give "33" and a "back" click will give "back back" etc. which is bloody annoying.... but it doesn't happen all the time just seems to go into a phase when it does & then later it will be back to fine again.
