I think I can understand where Sylva is coming from. The wiki definitely needs some TLC and organization. It is tough to find the right information and not all sections can be contributed to.

I'm not sure I can offer up a solution to the issue, but I'm sure there's a few others that have been confused trying to use it. Could be why there's so many posts in the forums.

sub, don't take it personally. We LOVE what you're doing. Big Grin Just consider it constructive criticism. I don't like writing procedures or manuals either (I work in I.T.).
sub Wrote:Basically its done this way because I had no interest or time for producing a manual or other documentation, so instead the users came up with using a wiki so that they could cooperatively work on small bits of documentation for themselves. Wiki software is pretty much designed for this purpose, and it has worked pretty well. Sure, we didnt end up with a nicely edited .pdf or .doc, but at least we got some documentation, and its relatively up to date.
Maybe someone who is way more knowledgable than me could use something like this (http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Meta:G...DF/HTMLDoc) to generate a PDF from the wiki.

I realize it wouldn't be completely automatic and need manual intervention every so often but it seems like it can give us something that many of us would like.
You can add: ?action=publish&include=1 after a wiki section link and get something printable like this

[Edit]
I add above text to the wikis first page.

What's the status of this page? There's some stuff at the end (snip) which could be deleted. Also, a modern graphics card and/or updated drivers should be on the list of requirements.

And "sorry, your system, doesn't support VMR" should be added to a common errors page if there is one...?

I've stayed away from pages like this as it involves Zehd's 'being_edited' thing as per 1st post on this thread, though it also says 'pending_proof' which should allow for minor edits.

Am sure Zehd will clarify!

I've never seen/found one, if there isn't one already then sounds like a great idea.

Cheers

Hi guys...

It has been many months since I first started marking certain pages as being edited etc... Well what can I say... I'm done editing them Big Grin

The idea was to tag them so one could easily look at all pages that were in a certain state of editing. After proof, usualy from a different person, the tag would be removed altogether...

I'm sorry that I dropped this without any notice so long ago...

Anyone can go ahead and clean that up, rewrite, edit, delete pages as they see fit...

Although it has been customary to place the category tags at the end of the pages, I placed these edit tags (and a reference to me) at the start of the page...

It's good to see others taking up the torch
