I have moved from SageTV to NextPVR using Kodi\XBMC as the primary interface. For this to work as desired I need for the recording to show up in the Kodi TV Shows Library.
I have found IGL to be the best (possibly only) way get the shows to show up in the Kodi Library but I still have a few issues and questions that I have not been able to answer\solve.
I am running IGL in the "PostProcessing.bat" using the following:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\NPVR\ImageGrabLite.exe" --oid %3 --season --rename --nfo
"C:\Program Files (x86)\NPVR\ImageGrabLite.exe" --oid %3 --nfo
I use the --rename option mainly because I want the SXXEXX naming standard so that the shows will show up in Kodi\Plex and SageTV after they are recorded.
What I have found with using the --rename option is that if it renames the file it will not create the --nfo file.
If the renamed file gets the SXXEXX information then generally the .nfo is not necessary but often it renames with something like: "The Daily Show With Jon Stewart.2015-04-23.Neil deGrasse Tyson.ts"
Generally only News type programs or specials don't get a good match but there are some files like "The Daily Show With Jon Stewart" that also don't match well with Season\Episode information.
The non Season\Episode naming standard does not seem to scan into Kodi without the .nfo file.
For that reason I run the second IGL lookup just to add the nfo file.
This approach generally gets everything into Kodi but since I use multiple recording Libraries I can end up with multiple folders in Kodi for a show like "The Daily Show With Jon Stewart".
I may have an entry for the show for each recording drive instead of one folder for all episodes of a show. (So not all episodes are grouped together)
Questions:
Is there another approach where I can only create the .nfo file when there is not a Season\Episode match? (Or another approach in general that might work better)
Also: I see the Season\Episode information in the Guide before the recording in most cases but it does not appear to get used in the rename process. I see in the IGL log that the Season\Episode data seems to be missing.
Is there an option that might force it to rename with the Guide Season\Episode data?
Lastly: I was able to fix one issue I was having by updating the version of IGL I was using. But...the update seemed to be buried in the forum. Is there a location where the latest beta version of IGL is always located?

I own an HDHomeRun Dual for ATSC as well as a cablecard Prime, and have always used them with NPVR. SD just announced their Kickstarter campaign with an intent to build a software dvr for the devices, and detail it will run on a NAS as a server, and use low-cost clients and possibly a Kodi client. They feature a YouTube video overview and show a rather primitive interface.
I have no intention of paying for DVR software when I have NPVR, which already appears to do everything their proposed solution does, with nearly any tuner device out there. I think they should just license NPVR!
This seems a little strange. I have a number of recurring recordings. The recordings on the major network channels have no problems. The ones on what would have been in the old days UHF channels record audio but no video, just a black screen video with some green blocking at times. HDHomerun extend, Verizon FIOS and windows 7. I am at work right now and have no ability to run logs, just wondering if I am missing something obvious.
I've encountered a problem setting up the NextPVR on my system.
I purchased an IT9135 DVB-T Dongle.
I used this guide: http://kodi.wiki/view/NextPVR
I started the NextPVR.exe and in the Settings>Devices>Device setup section I change the default settings to Country: israel, Region: israel (Quick scan).
After that, the scan window showed up and I let it run for 2-3 minutes or so, but not a single channel has found, and when I press the OK the program got stuck and didn't respond anymore so I needed to shut it down by force.
I would appreciate any help I could get,
Thanks in advance.
There was a couple of transponder changes at the weekend, mainly FEC changing. A scan doesn't find these changes as it looks like FEC is part of the setup for a frequency scan (although my little box ignores FEC when scanning .
I went to http://satellites-xml.eu/ to generate a new .ini file (a long time since I've had to do this) and copied to the tuning folder. Sadly an NPVR scan doesn't seem to do much and when I peeked in the ini file the downloaded one has text for some variables whereas NPVR seems to want numeric values. I did a search and replace and all came out good in teh end with a full scan and the transponder changes being sorted. I was just wondering if it may be possible to tweak yoru scan routine to accept some of the text variables???
My search and replace were these.
I have been using NextPVR for a while now and had very little problems with all channels available working as they should.
For some strange reason 1 of the channels has all of a sudden lost its audio. There are 3 channels on the same frequency 'One' 'Ten' and 'Eleven'. Channel 'One' has decided it doesn't want to play any audio with the others working fine.
I've tried deleting the single channel and re-tuning it and also all the channels on the same frequency but it still has the same issue.
Hi all. Really hoping to find some help with this. Im using this, Asus PCI- Express Television Tuner MY CINEMA-EHC3-150/NAQ/FM/AV/RC on windows 7 ultimate, with a cable line connected to my htpc directly from the wall jack. I do not have a cable box, as we pay for what is referred to as "Starter Cable".
Nextpvr scans and finds plenty of channels. But all of them show up as unknown. If it helps we are in northeast ohio. Is there a way to make this work correctly, or somewhere I can find a list so I can re label the channels manually? This also seems to be causing there to be no epg data either.
Thanks to anyone who can take the time to help with this.
Just as the Title states, my web server up and stopped working. I was adding a new HDHOMERUN to my available tuners, applied the settings and went to my Kodi install to see my changes. Kodi was unable to connect to NextPVR and I have yet to solve it. I went to the server running NextPVR and tried to connect to it's ip:8866 with no response. I have since tried to uninstall/reinstall with no success, disabled firewalls. I have deleted the folder from the Users/Public folder to start fresh. I am now completely frustrated and not sure what to do next. Please help, the software was working amazingly until now. Attached are the only logs available right now with my install.
