  LiveTV Playback
Posted by: spider - 2014-10-20, 07:03 PM - Forum: X-NEWA - Replies (6)

I'm trying to figure out the best options for playing back a recording in progress. In all cases, when I've tried, it stops playback once it reaches the amount of time i started the recording from -- i.e., I i started at 10 minutes into a 1 hour recording, after ten minutes playback ends even though there is another 10 minutes of video.

I've tried both Direct and Timeshift modes. I increased the Pre-buffer to the max. None of these had any effect.

I saw on another post about sharing the time shift folder on the NextPVR server, but I didn't see where I set this in the configuration options for X-NEWA.

Client not playing recordings or live tv
Posted by: Steve Barnes - 2014-10-20, 08:27 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (1)

I am tearing my hair out here. Clean install on two machines running win 7, which are themselves a clean win 7 install.
Main machine/server runs ok but have had several weird problems of an erratic nature.
The Main problem is the client, Lenovo laptop, Npvr loads fine but on trying to play recordings I get a blank screen. I had it all working fine a day or so back but then had a problem with the main machine while installing Catalyst Control Center and had to re-install windows but since then have had this problem.
Log shows "GetDuration returning 0" until I exit.
Here are the client logs..

  X-NEWA NextPVR Options unavailable
Posted by: spider - 2014-10-19, 11:53 PM - Forum: X-NEWA - Replies (5)

When my "Upcoming Recordings" list is empty on the home screen, I am unable to access the NextPVR Options menu using the left arrow to get to all recordings, the guide, etc. I cannot use the down arrow on the remote either to access the What's Next list. This happens in the Confluence skin.

I have switched to the Classic skin and it does not have this problem. Besides forcing an upcoming recording, is there a resolution to this issue? I am on version 2.4.3.

PC Client partially working but no TV streaming
Posted by: Hornet - 2014-10-19, 07:00 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

Hi

I've used GBPVR for years and now moving to NextPVR. Install and software are working perfectly on Windows 7 64 machine with HVR-1600 card. The problem I'm having is with the Client PC (Windows 8.1 64). Other than the long lag to start the interface, everything seems fine up to the point of invoking live TV. Guide displays perfectly and c:\users\Public\NPVR share on Win7 server is read/write shared to Everyone as is the recording and buffer folders. If TV is invoked NPVR displays "please wait" for a long time (minutes) then eventually throws a .NET error:

"A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond 192.168.0.50:8968"

The log sometimes is very clean with this single error "Unable to query server recording directories". Other times there are additional errors depending on what I try to resolve the problem. I have attached one such log and the .NET framework error message.

I have tried using IP instead of DNS name, making sure both machines have static IPs, changing decoders, etc but nothing works. Any suggestions would be most welcome.

Built in Schedules Direct not updating.
Posted by: NYPlayer - 2014-10-19, 04:18 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (14)

The Schedules Direct built in updater is not updating the EPG. If this cannot be fixed does that mean I have to use another source for XMLTV? Like Microsoft. I would like to know before prime time tonight. I could revert back to Microsoft if need be.

How do I add missing channels?
Posted by: ehbowen - 2014-10-19, 03:50 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (1)

I just gave up on MediaPortal after it once again kept recording for 13 hours when it was supposed to record 30 minutes. (You can fill up a hard drive quick that way!) I have switched back to NextPVR, which I used to use on my old computer with an AverMedia TV card; it worked fairly well although I never could get the EPG auto-update feature to work properly.

I have a new computer (homebuilt around an Intel i7 processor and an ASUS Z-97 Pro motherboard) and a new TV card (Hauppage HVR-2250). I have also subscribed to Schedules Direct. NextPVR installed OK, but when I go to Device Setup and scan for channels it misses the local station broadcasting on physical channel 8 (KUHT-DT[1-4]). I've tried scanning four or five times with a few reboots thrown in for good measure, and it still doesn't pick up the channel. I know that the TV card is receiving it because when I go into the Hauppage WinTV program I can watch the channels with no difficulty and a good clear picture.

I'm willing to try hand-editing the channels XML file, but I can't find all the information that I need on the Schedules Direct web site. Does anyone have a good method of adding individual channels that the automatic scan misses? Also, is there any way to automatically map the channels to the Schedules Direct info? I've searched the documentation and I haven't yet found a way which works other than going through the channels and mapping them individually one by one...kind of tiresome when you have 105 broadcast channels....

  Schedules Direct with MC2XML
Posted by: roy - 2014-10-19, 03:45 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (11)

I use MC2XML to download my lineups from Schedules Direct, then enhance with Ultraxmltv. I know it's old, but it has worked for me and I like the enhancements.

Probably related to the SD changes in progress, MC2XML has failed to login to SD, starting several days ago, with invalid user name or password.

Any help out there?

  Translation issue with leading double-quotes
Posted by: alibert - 2014-10-19, 09:02 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

Hi,

occasionally, the translations don't seem to work as expected - seems like a leading double-quote in the translatable text leads to the first element from my language file (which is "TV Guide") being picked up as replacement. The following is logged in that case:

Code:
<Translation original=""Alpengasthof" in Weißbach (2) (Staffel 5, Folge 3)

HDHR - no picture/sound in QuickTV app
Posted by: SickBoy - 2014-10-17, 02:52 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (5)

I recently reimaged my machine and upgraded to a SSD as my main system drive. After reinstalling the Silicondust drivers & utilities for my HDHomeRun, the QuickTV application wasn't showing any picture or sound. (Yes, I checked the firewall settings to ensure that the HDHR apps are all being let through)

Previewing channels via VLC on the Setup app works.

I went ahead and installed and configured NPVR anyway and discovered that, once I set up my capture sources, channel settings and decoders as per normal, NPVR is working fine.

Any ideas? For now I'm just watching live TV via NPVR but sometimes that can be a little cumbersome and I'm even less a fan of using VLC.

No sound from LiveTV and not recording
Posted by: ChicagoBob - 2014-10-16, 05:11 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (48)

My Setup is windows 7 an Atom PC with SSD HDHomerun Dual.
I installed NextPVR and it went OK. I was able to scan and get all my channels,
I was able to get the EPG with the channels.
I could see LiveTV and it seemed OK but no audio output?
I do everything through HDMI audio and video as the computer has an HDMI output.
Is there some setting or issue with that?

AND on the record side, I set up recording the guide turned red but nothing happened.
No errors no files created just nothing.

I am a newbie not sure what to look at.
