  Setting up HDHomeRun and NextPVR
Posted by: lazyboy0172 - 2015-01-12, 06:50 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (2)

what do I need to do to set up a pvr service? I currently have hdhomerun set with xbmc and it works wonderfully to choose my channels and get it through there, but I'd prefer to have a pvr and live tv setup in xbmc so I can pause, rewind, and record. The i downloaded nextpvr and tried to set it up and it sees both my tuners (just a single antenna getting over-the-air here in US) but when i click setup device and scan for channels nothing is found. I tried mediaportal then because i thought maybe it was nextpvr, but the exact same problem occurred. I can get see the tuners, but not grab any channels. I went into hdhomerun setup and changed the application to either platform and hit apply but that seemed to make absolutely 0 difference. No channels found, ever. XBMC still works great, playing all the channels flawlessly. am I missing a step or something?

I posted this on the HDHomeRun support forum and it was suggested I ask here so I'm posting here as well in hopes of getting some help. I already have EPG and strms set up that xbmc uses, but I need a PVR backend so I can start recording things that I'd like to watch later but don't need to keep in my xbmc library.

  ReInsert metadata into ts recording
Posted by: Jaggy - 2015-01-12, 05:40 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (21)

I use

more < "%~1:metadata.xml" > "%~n1.xml"

to extract the metadata from recordings prior to cutting out the adds, but it won't use the extracted xml to re-import into Recordings therefore I would like to find out how to reinsert the previously extracted metadata into the edited ts file so I can easily re-import into Recordings through settings by using the ts option

  Recordings Menu Responsiveness
Posted by: cbgifford - 2015-01-12, 05:03 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (25)

When exiting a show after playing I get a black screen for upwards of a minute or two before I get the recordings menu back again. Also changing from ready Recordings to recurring recordings, etc also takes upwards of a minute or two. I do have a database of 2.7TB of video that is growing daily. Is there anything I can do to speed up the app?

  Failed Start on Live TV
Posted by: Peter847 - 2015-01-12, 12:53 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (27)

I have just installed NPVR for the first time and keep getting the error message "unable to find available capture device" for live TV.

I am starting from a clean Windows install to which I add (in order) Chrome, SAF6, Avermedia Hybrid Volar Max driver, WinTV/SoftPVR and then install NPVR. During the installation it opens a CLI window that says it has completed but the window stays open and eventual generates a stack overflow. If I close the windows the NPVR installation continues, apparently successfully.

I then setup up folders, devices and decoders, nothing noteworthy here. I then select the guide, and double click on an FM radio station, all works OK. I then select a digital TV channel and I get the "unable to find available capture device".

If I look through the logs (attached) I think the clue is in the ndigitalhost log where it says:

2015-01-11 18:15:06.765 [DEBUG][5] Failed to start device: 0x800705aa

What does this mean?

Thanks

Peter

  Recurring Recordings not working
Posted by: boringgit - 2015-01-11, 05:35 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

So since updating to this version, individually scheduled recordings still work just fine - recurring recordings however appear to record once, bit never again.

I was looking through the log and noticed a lot of "Channel uses broadcast EPG connected to non-existant capture source:"

On the previous version I upgraded from a USB capture card to a shiny PCI one - seems to me like it might be related....

I'm not overly worried if I have to replace my database and start from scratch, somewhere along the line the search / recordings from NEWA stopped working, and when I replaced the card I messed around a bit to try to shift recordings from SD channels to HD channels. Just thought I would ask first in case somebody was able to say "easy problem - all you need to do is ....."

Cheers in advance!

  Debugging an appcrash

This is what I get for not programming for months Rolleyes

Code:
Problem signature: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: NextPVR.exe Application Version: 1.0.0.0 Application Timestamp: 54553dc4 Fault Module Name: MediaInfo.dll Fault Module Version: 0.7.72.0 Fault Module Timestamp: 54ad43f3 Exception Code: c00000fd Exception Offset: 002b0e47 OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.4 Locale ID: 2057 Additional Information 1: 4f6e Additional Information 2: 4f6e33d09ad919737f34aa7adcec3ad4 Additional Information 3: afc5 Additional Information 4: afc52a5f0f7a29752a855fef86ccb0bb Read our privacy statement online: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=104288&clcid=0x0409 If the online privacy statement is not available, please read our privacy statement offline: C:\Windows\system32\en-US\erofflps.txt

I've tracked down the line that causes the error, but is there any way to get more information about what might be going wrong? I know nothing about 'proper' debugging with C#, but this is fairly simple stuff (in terms of usage of the MediaInfo DLL), and happens when trying to use a newer version of the DLL with my existing code.

Schedules Direct use my own Subscribed Lineup for setting up channels
Posted by: EiEiOhh - 2015-01-11, 10:11 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (14)

I have created a subscribed Lineup in Schedules Direct of the cable channels I currently have on my cable subscription.

I'd like to use that lineup to populate channels but I don't see it in the list

Thanks

HD PVR - 0kb recordings, no live TV
Posted by: dfin - 2015-01-11, 05:42 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

I just setup NPVR 3.3.8 on a new system with an Happauge HD PVR 1212.

Whenever I try to record shows, the files are empty. I also do not get live tv. if I use the Arcsoft utility that comes with the HD PVR I can see and hear the video fine.

Enclosed are the log files.

Thanks,
Dave

  resore recordings database
Posted by: Flyndr - 2015-01-11, 01:56 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

I wish to restore recordings database using Vidinfo after a hard drive change..

I presume the file is recordings.xml under c:/users/public.npvr. If not how can I find it?
Using vidimport do I have to just enter the filename or the whole path?
Drop and drag defaults to Videos.xml so I have to use a script.

Can anybody help please.
Sample script would be great

NTray show list of upcoming recordings
Posted by: cncb - 2015-01-10, 09:25 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (4)

It would be useful if one of the menu items in the NTray taskbar icon would be "Upcoming Recordings" that would open a window showing a list of upcoming recordings. A more detailed tooltip showing recording information would also be nice: maybe show next two current/upcoming recordings.
