Great program but I wondering if my understanding is correct.

In processing a file, if the file is followed by another file the post pad is not added until the next file is complete. This means if you have a long program following you would need to wait some time before the file is ready.

Assuming you could arrange for the program to wait for 3 or so minutes into the next program before processing, would it possible to add the post pad while the next program is still being recorded. In this way, you only need to wait 3 or so minutes into the next program before completion of file.

Is there is a record locking issue?

And now for the dumb question: If it is record locking issue, why is that I can play a program while I am still recording it.

I have been considering the back to back issue. I have tried zback2back and it seemed to work reasonable well. I am however considering writing some .Net code of my own using different joining techniques which are more suited to my needs.

As an alternative to this, I was also wondering if anyone had figured out if you could make a single capture source appear as 2 virtual sources. The source in this case is hauppage PVR-150MCE. This comes however with it own set of problems such as gb ignoring conflicts but I have some ideas as to how to get around this.

Does anyone have any ideas on how this can be done. Programming is OK!

when i start pvrx2 ad go to the guide and select a hd channel and choose watch it goes to a blank screen. after i use my mouse scroll while to go up a channel i then get a hd channel and i can scroll back down to the first channel that i wnated.

I have installed 1.2.13 today and have just installed a PVR500 card. I am having trouble getting EPG data in Sydney.
How do I scan for channels without having EPG data present? Or do I need ERG data to scan for channels? There used to be a SCAN button which found channels. Any help would be appreciated.

Many radio stations are aligning themselves with Reciva (http://www.reciva.com) so as to make themselves be heard on the current breed of WiFi radio's. This technology is merely a Windows Media or Realplayer streeam (depends on the broadcaster).

The clever bit is that you create an account on the system which then stores your favourite stations ready for playback. They have an API which the WiFi radio's connect to so surely we can do the same?

I'm building a second GBPVR box (this one is for the family room) and I've gotten a great base to start with. It's a dell optiplex gx270 with a 2.4ghz P4, 512mb of ram, and everything onboard. Just in case the onboard card doesn't support tv out (with a vga to tv converter) I've got a PCI video card with S-Video out.

Now the question is this: I'd like it to have the ability to capture multiple feeds at the same time. I plan to hook one feed into the standard digital cable box I have (analog feed out of the box, so that means the card has to be able to capture analog) and then hook the second feed to a plain old antenna (using the internal tuner to switch channels. I guess I'll also need one of those new fangled converter boxes, eh?). I know there are several multiple feed cards on the market, namely the PVR500. I see Hauppauge now has a new version of that card out as well. I don't have an HD tv, so HD isn't a necessity. What I'm wondering is which is better: A card like the PVR500 with multiple inputs on one card, or two cards with single inputs like the PVR150?

Also, do I NEED more RAM or would it just be nice to have? I don't have a problem adding more if I have to.

My biggest question is the best way to capture two feeds at once and what other gear i'd need (rabbit ears, converter box, etc...).

I had a quick look of the other threads and didn't initially find anything related; there might be. But I'm seeing an issue where I try to use my MVP and I see the main GBPVR on my TV, but once I hit any button on my remote, the UI goes wrong: only part of the menu is shown, fonts change, none of the short cut buttons on the Haupauge remote bring me to say "Video" or "TV Guide" etc.

Here was I did

- was running GBPVR10105.msi (1.1.5), stopped everything, backed up
- uninstalled 1.1.5
- installed GBPVR10213.msi (1.2.13)
- On Windows XP, PVRx2 shows fine
- but on when I use MVP, start MVP, see the main window, but once I hit any button on remote screen looks to have problems rendering etc.

If anyone has any tips I'd appreciate it.

I have posted this quetion in the past...I have been waiting to see more cable card tuners hit the market; and ATI (and some other company which i do not recall) has released a monstrous external cable card tuner which appears to only be compatable with vista, that there are many restrictions regarding recording HD, among other issues.

I contacted Haupppauge not so long ago and inquired/suggested that they look into a cable card tuner. I got a response from a tech at hauppauge and he said that cable card tuners are something that they are researching but he could not give out any details.

I ultimately want to have a pvr that will capture HD but will not require an external capture device, or a STB. Basically i want an hd pvr all in one case with no externals!

Just wanted to know if you have heard or know of anything in the works!

First to say: GBPVR runs like a charme, it's wonderful to have this mediacenter running. Thank you! Thanks for the great software and thank you for your 1st class support.

First my Setup:

GB-PVR Streaming Clients
E6300 / 2GB RAM / GF 7600 GT / 2 x 320 GB HDD / 1Gb LAN
E6600 / 2GB RAM / GF 8600 GTS / 2 x 320 GB HDD / 1Gb LAN
T5200 / 1GB RAM / GF 7600 go / 2 x 120 GB HDD / 1Gb LAN

All systems had running before Windows XP SP2 / Windows XP SP3 (only a short time) and now Vista Home Premium SP1 32-Bit.
The following "problem" were on all operating systems and for a lot GB-PVR versions:


If the Main PC Tuner are in "idle", there is absolutely no problem while watching Live TV via stream for the clients. They can start and channelchange without any problems.
Do i have planned recordings, which are starting after the clients had connected for watching via stream, then there's no problem too. You're logic for GB-PVR choose the right tuner for every task.
But now follows the problem: If my Main PC is already recording 1 or 2 shows and one (or both) of the clients connect to Main PC for watching Live Streams, then the both recording tuner have a chance to "reinitialize" themselves. The recordings are broken at this moment. The Recording Service restarts the tuner for completing their task and the clients receive their live stream.

It looks like, that the logic of GB-PVR has a (temporary) problem to assign a free tuner to streaming clients if at least one tuner is local in use.

This is not the big important problem, but it were really nice if you could have a deeper look into this, if the "bigger" problems of the new release are fixed.

Is it possible to use the following key in the config.xml in the MVP section for my popcorn hour?

I have been using the ATI mux that outputs .mpg files. Trying to play those from the GBPVR menu causes my popcorn hour to crash. I can play them fine from a shared directory. Alternatively, I could use .TS, but I have had stuttering problems with that on my PC.

I could just try it out, but I'm here now... .
