I'm a first time user of both PC tuner hardware and software. I've tried multiple times with different settings to watch live TV on a new WinTV HVR-1800MCE in GBPVR 1.2.13. Either nothing has happened when I click to watch live TV or click a TV Guide listing and "Watch", or I've gotten a black screen, or about a second of live TV then a frozen image. I think I only got a picture using EVR (when I tried VMR9 I got a message saying my system didn't support it or something). I've tried 3 different driver versions for the card including a beta, and I also tried GBPVR 1.2.9. Nothing has worked.

The card works in WinTV 6 with both analog cable and OTA ATSC.
New system - XP 32bit.
Installed Nova-T USB stick - WinTV works
Installed .Net 3.5 and VCredist
Installed GBPVR 1213.
Added the stick as a capture device, and config keeps crashing when trying to scan for channels. It seems to scan muxes 1-5 OK but crash when it starts scanning mux 6...EDIT - installed the previous version and it works fine. Will not try 1.2.13 again for now!
I asked if this was possible and I was told about the recording status.bat file but this happens after the recording starts and isn't completely sufficient.
I'd like a way for GBPVR's service or try program to run commands on before the recording starts. In the growing state of external tuners sometimes we will need to process commands for some things such as sending a wakup command to a turner or mode set etc etc, before the program starts. In addition with external tuners it would also be nice to set a time in advance of recordings however this would have to be surppressed for back to back recordings.
Via batch or whatever means the ability to run commands on the system in advance of recording.
Ability to set how long before start this is excuted
These instructions should happen in advance of any time the recording service first starts but not on back to back recordings (perhaps the abbility to toggle back to back use or not) with the time to considered back to back determined either by the user or by a set time within the program.
Instructions should not be allowed to be triggered while another recording for the same card that that issues the command. Users should be notified of the conflict and forced to change the selected pre-execution time. None of this should apply if the users opts to have the work with back to back recordings.
This should be the same way for prerecording channel changing, which should be considered a different option, except it only seems useful for external tuners and channel changers.
I am using EVR on XP and can not remove the black bars above and below the video as EVR can not zoom outside the video area
Is it possible to tell ffdshow to stretch the decoded video?
I tried all resize, crop and zoom functions and nothing helps.

I've been using GBPVR for the past several years (great program Sub!) with my Comcast Cable and PVR150. I now find myself moving to an area not serviced by cable. My option is DirectTV or DishNetwork. Even OTA is bad.
My question to the group is for those who have it setup for satellite, how are you making the connnection to the PC? I don't know anyone with satellite so sorry for the basic question. With basic cable, the line into my house goes directly to the back of my PC then to my TV (i.e. no cable box). The connection is via a coaxial cable directly to the PVR150 and from PVR150 to TV. Please describe how you connect via satellite in simple terms.
Based on all the new products they have out (HD DVR, HVR1600, HVR1950, HVR950Q). I figure I don't need the QAM feature since I'm doing satellite but is there one card that performs better? I did a search but not much comment on these cards with satellite).
Ultimately, my goal is to record it on my PC so that I can just keep adding harddrives as the space fills up so it seems that the HD DVR is not possible). Also, how is the listing updated. EPG is set to update automatically through my internet connection. I assume that would hold true with satellite?
I'm using the Yahoo! EPG thing. I just updated to 1.2.13 last night. I manually ran EPG update in the Yahoo GUI and then checked the .xml file, and it did update properly and has all the shows through the 13th. But when I bring up TV Guide it shows "No Show Details" for anything after June 1st, but current shows still come up...
When I updated I had to redo almost all of my settings. But everything under the Channels Tab was correct. It is set to read from the .xml file properly.
Usage:
serial <comport> <question> <reponse> <command> <retries>
<comport> is the port used for communicating with the Denon
<question> is the command string used for requesting the status
<reponse> is the expected response
<command> is the string send to the Denon when the response is not as expected
<retries> is the number of retries used to send the <command> when the status does not change to <response>
Examples:
serial COM7 SI? SITUNER MSQUICK1 1
Checks if the chuner is selected and if not issue the MSQUICK1 command
serial COM7 SI? SIDVD SIDVD 2
Check if the DVD input is selected, if not switch to DVD
serial COM7 MV? MVUP MVUP 10
move the volume up 5 times 0.5 db. The number of retries can be changes to change the volume step per invocation
serial COM7 PW? PWON PWON 2
powers on the Denon if not already powered
serial COM7 TPAN? TPANUP TPANUP 1
switch the tuner to the next preset
These commands can be easily used in HIP to allow a single remote to control also the Denon
I have just installed software and managed to get it to reconise my Freecom USB stick. I am a few channels missing, but more imprtantly I have no picture only audio.
