So I figured I'd see what all the fuss was about and got me an HVR1600. Purchased a very good antenna too. Even after using GBPVR for more than 2 years I can't get far. I didn't use the software that came with it as their web site had updated drivers and instead of installing all their crap I just searched for the drivers and let it install. When setting device I choose 1600 QAM but if I try to map channels to EPG, it craps out.
I haven't tried the ATSC side yet but if anyone has been thru this and has the cliff notes for the best way to get this working in GBPVR, I'd appreciate some tips.
Thanks
Hey,
My computer savvy friend took my old HP and turned it into a DVR w/ Linux and MythTV. MythTV had a hiccup months and months ago so it wasnt working and then my power supply blew. I just replaced the power supply and now my Linux isnt working.
The point being now it is all up to me to get a DVR again. I dont know Linux but I know Windows and want to install XP or 2000. I am looking for some suggestions, helpful hints before I endeavor to install gbpvr.
1. Does anyone know of a good place to get a cracked Wind xp?
2. Anyone have some good tips to get me started with gbpvr or some guidance to avoid some common problems.
Thanks anyone.
Yeah I'm a noob and proud of it. :o
I remember Sub mentioning a card what was going to have jacks for HD input from an HD converter. Does anyone have more info on that? Input types? Manufacturer? etc?

I decided to make some improvements to the web interface (although I think that it is pretty good - great job guys!!, just wanted to add a few features). Since the main language I know is php, I decided to write it in that.
Here are my questions -
The database gbpvr uses is SQLite...correct? Which is the gbpvr.db3 file in the directory correct?
That being said, I tried to connect to it with php and it acts like it is an invalid format. The warning is:
Warning: sqlite_open() [function.sqlite-open]: file is encrypted or is not a database in C:\Documents and Settings\Media\Desktop\Server\xampplite\htdocs\test.php on line 4
The code that I am using to connect to it (or at least the part that errors out) is:
$db = sqlite_open("gbpvr.db3");
(and just to cover something, I already made a copy of the gbpvr.db3 and put it in the correct folder)
Any ideas or suggestions would be really helpful - sorry if these questions have already been answers, I tried my best searching the forum, wiki, and google and didn't turn up too much that is helpful (and its my first post in here... so be gentle!!)
If I open PVRX2 and immediately close I get an error about "error occuring, needs to close." I've attached the logs.
If open it and do anything within the program i.e. watch a recording then exit out and restart the program I get an "IRQL Not Less or Equal" blue screen dump with cryptic 0x00000a message and no reference to a particular file.
I'm hoping these are one in the same and fixing the first will give me something to go on with the second. Also is there any way to get a list of IRQ assignments? I see it as the POST screen when the computer boots, but it goes by way to fast to copy down.....
Hi
I can´t get any subtitle in live-tv using PVRX2.exe. it´s working fine in the old GBPVR.exe.
When pressing Ctrl + Y nothing happens. If I make a recording and watch it i have subtitles. But if i look at the recording during the recording i don't have subtitles, the same goes for time shift. I have tryed to re-install GB-PVR, but it dident help.
If I press Ctrl + R, I do get the teletext and it´s working as it should.
Any ideas? I attached the logs.
I really wane use the new PVRX2, it look much greater on my set up.
Hello,
I don't get my plugings to work.
I download the plugin of gmail, but i can't set my username and pasword ennyware.
Then I download Xdvd but he neets a conection string and I don't know what that is.
I want to use it one a P3 880Mhz with 256 mb and a 80 Gb hard disk.
Long story short: for a given resolution, for example 1360X768, can the video card tell, or does it care, whether the "picture" is SD or HD? They both have the same number of pixels although the frame rate might be different depending on interlacing, right? Presumably the HD picture has more pixels that are different, but it seems the card still has to drive every pixel. The bit rate coming from the decoder and/or renderer is greater for HD than SD, I assume, but does the video card deal with this, or the CPU?
Input from the experts, or pointer to on-line resource would be appreciated.
Background: new LCD TV for Christmas (like everybody else!); previously feeding SD from PVR150 at GBPVR High Quality via Geforce 6200 S-video output at 720X480 to SD CRT TV using VMR9 custom. Worked great once quartz.dll issue fixed. Connected to new TV using VGA (no DVI-HDMI cable on hand); now had the infamous Nvidia tearing and choppy video at any resolution between 1024X768 to 1360X768. Had to go back to Overlay to get smooth video with no tearing. (Also tried FSE which was better, but had problems coming out of hibernate.) Finally decided to try EVR/.Net3 and found it works fine at 1360X768 with PVRX2, albeit with the color saturation still needing some adjusting.
Can anyone recommend a cable signal applifier they've been happy with? I'm dividing my cable a ridiculous number of times (5 rooms (analog) + 2 cable boxes + 2 digital tuners + 1 analog tuner + 1 cable modem) and getting some dropouts with my digital tuners.
I've done my best to rearrange my splits to minimize db losses on my cable boxes and digital tuners, and I'm using quality splitters, but based on the number of locations in the house I have to feed and not having more than one cable going to any specific room, multiple splits are unavoidable.
I've tried a couple signal amps I've bought at Home Depot and returned them both due to noise they introduced on the analog drops - I didn't bother to test the digital tuners. I don't mind paying for quality amps, but based on my experience with my first two amps, don't want to waste more time buying ones that won't work.
Boy, the one advantage of analog tuners is graceful signal degradation. The all-or-nothing aspect of digital reception is feast or famine. Do you know what happens in this house when we find the signal dropped out during a Lost recording?
