Happened to be working with TV apps of all kinds on my Win10 system today. Upgraded to v7.0.1 of NextPVR Windows client, in support of my SD Flex-4K network tuner. I am running NextPVR server on this Win10 system, including DVR software and EPG guide (through my Schedules Direct subscription which happens to also be used as the EPG Guide data source for my other "production" desktop Win7 Windows Media Center world supporting both OTA ATSC 1.0 via Hauppauge Quad-HD tuner and Ceton cablecard-enabled tuner for Spectrum DRM cable).
Verified that latest (20250315 UI) HDHR client app on Win10 works fine, and it does. Verified that latest (20250315) HDHR client app on my Samsung S21 Ultra phone works fine, and it does.
Then since I haven't run UIDROID on my phone for a long time, I decided to be sure I had the latest version. This forum says it is the new one using MediaX and the version I had installed several years back was for EXOPLAYER. So I downloaded the latest APK and used ADBLINK2 to side-load it onto my phone.
Then I tried to use it. The program launched properly, and even showed the TV Guide correctly. My channels are only the selected local ATSC 1.0 ones that I have interest in, as well as the three non-DRM ATSC 3.0 channels when those version exist.
However when I went to actually play an ATSC 1.0 channel I got sound but no video. Instead I got an error message "unsupported video". Simultaneously the normally green NextPVR icon (in the Windows notification area) went red! I then terminated UIDROID on the phone, and the red NextPVR icon turned back to green for just a brief period, before going gray!!
And now when I try to launch either HDHR or UIDROID on the phone it can't find the "server". I have to re-boot the Win10 system in order to get the NextPVR server working properly again, and showing a green icon.
==> What is this issue with "unsupported video"? Clearly this is then somehow causing havoc with NextPVR server, bringing it down (first to red, and then to gray out-of-service).
I still have the old EXOPLAYER APK. Should I reinstall that version, just to see if it will work?
1st- When I'm watching a show using the NPVR app on ATV, it will randomly freeze. I force close the app, then it can't find the server any longer on my mac. I go to my mac and restart the service and can get back in business but it's not optimal.
2nd- I'm having issue with EPG. looking at log it looks like the UpgradeEPG script file is missing. Do i need to reinstall?
I've got a IPTV device that has 132 categories and >35,000 channels (fair to say I don't need them all in NextPVR) But when I go to deselect them the checkbox jumps back up to the top so I can't scroll down. From playing with the CSS I can make it _functional_ by adding a `max_height` property to the popup box so I guess it's some js that triggers if you try to leave the main screen?
Any troubleshooting steps I can try to help, let me know ?
I've noticed my PC has Windows Elitedesk USFF has been a little sluggish watching things lately and the web interface has been sluggish too. I've just decided to take a look at this now and the culplit seems to be NextPVRserver sucking 70% of the CPU resources.
I'm running 7.0.1.241229 and can't seem to see anything in the logs that would indicate anything and the CPU is being smashed when the system is idle - I'm not watching or recording TV at the time. Rebooting or stopping and restarting the service seems to fix this temporarily but the issue just comes back eventually after some use.
Anybody have any ideas or is there any logging I can enable which might show things?
Ive been using next PVR coupled with Kodi for a short while now since some other PVR servers bit the dust. I'd like to subscribe and add an IPTV service. Sorry if this is a naive question but don't IPTV service require you to have one of their stbs such as a firestick? Is it possible to access the IPTV service via a URL and have next stream channels via Kodi? Or have I got wrong end of stick. A dummy's guide is needed!!
Encountered something strange today - perhaps what I learned will be helpful to others.
I set up a new IPTV device testing a new provider. I use IPTVboss for editing etc so my M3U and EPG URLs are Dropbox share links.
My device imported ok, no errors, but no new EPG info was loading. EPG update had a suspiciously small number of updates.
Looked inside the EPG xml file itself and found lots of future entries, they just weren't showing in the TV Guide.
Tried restarting service, deleting DB3, no difference.
On a hunch I shortened the name of my IPTVboss output files by a few characters (taking the filename itself down from 14 chars to 10, and the full URL from 112 to 108) and the next update worked.
Is this a known char limit issue, on either the full URL or the filename? I couldn't find it mentioned anywhere.
What does having the setting AllowRemoteStreaming set to true actually do, and does it need to be set to true to connect remotely with the NextPVR Android Client from the Play Store?
I have concluded (Martin has helped me to conclude) I have a few channel streams of less than optimal quality. They *seem* fine but produce TS files when recorded that have skipping / seeking problems (I suspect caused by time index or stream interruption issues). After having really optimized groups and EPGs etc. I don't wish to change providers unless I have to, and hope I can instead do the following:
I see people using postprocessing scripts for various things here but not for tsduck; I see people using tsduck for stream and file analysis but not seemingly postprocessing.
I was wondering about having tsduck run after a recording completes to analyze and correct errors it finds (e.g. tsfclean, tsfixcc, tsftrunc, tsresync)
and re-write the file. I wish to avoid actual "re-encoding" of a file in a way that lowers quality.
Is this something anyone here is doing, or is even possible?
After an update of (Win10) and/or NPVR, my automatic transcoding at first did not work anymore.
When I changed settings to "CPU" encoding, it works again, but it creates 'temp-files like:
The Big Bang Theory_20250226_19402010.temp.mp4
in stead of the normal file name.
So, I suppose the transcoding did not fully finish?
Any idea what I can do?
Thank you!
