I want to resize the video to fit to the screen going through my MVP but I do not want it to cut off the sides. My screen is 4x3 and a lot of my video is 16x9. I am fine with there being black bars on the top and bottom. I'm not really sure how to do this. All my video is cropped and quite a bit of the sides is cut off.
Hey guys. I'm trying to use the onboard IR remote of my WinTV-PVR-150 (model 1045) working and am running into problems. To be honest, I tried getting it to work a year and a half ago when I bought it and never had any success so I just used the old serial IR receiver I had built previously.
I've installed the IR remote control software (v 2.45) and I guess it is working. I see a little remote icon in my system bar. I tried installing WINTV2000, but when I go to run it, I get the following error:
WinTV Initalization Error! A required component (hcwTVWnd.dll) is missing.
Can someone help me to remedy this situation? Any advice is greatly appreciated.
I am building my first HTPC. Going well so far thanks to the help of this forum.
I have come across an issue now which has me a bit stumped. I have intalled a NOVA-TV-500 which installed fine and I eventually got it working in GBPVR. The problem is it seems to be really flakey :confused: the first time I view a channel it works fine ..apart from some uber slow down while the overlays are up. Then all of a sudden the picture will go blank ... no error messages. It doesn't come back either unless i reboot or wait a while. This happens in GBPVR and WinTV etc.
I'm about to purchase a Voyetra Turtle Beach Video Advantage PCI Video Capture Card in my Core 2 Duo E6600 XP machine. Will GBPVR support this card? (I don't know what chipset it uses)
I do believe it does software MPEG encoding, does that make a difference?
When viewing live tv or a recording, if you hit menu to bring you back to the main screen, choose Search Guide and try to search for a show using the number buttons their is some wierd behaviour.
Every keystroke seems to be one step behind.
If you hit say 2 nothing appears at the top, if you hit 2 again then 'a' will appear, now if you hit another number then the 'a' changes to 'b'. Every key stroke is one hit behind where it should be.
This is a summary of several posts I made in the Community Skin support thread:
==================
I am getting this everytime I launch the program with the commandline to go to live tv, and I press the Menu key - the live TV image is missing. I dismiss the error, go back into live TV and press Menu and all is well. It only occurs on the first time I go back to the Menu from Live TV.
==================
OK, installed the 2.1.2 version last night, and yes, I get it with the Blue theme, the MCE theme and the Avance theme. It's like it needs to initialize something by going into the Live TV via the menu before it will show the live TV preview. This occurs when I blast right into Live TV with command line parameters, and after the first occurance it goes away. I will try to test tonight by just starting GBPVR and selecting Live TV, the hitting the Menu button to see if it occurs that way also. (I am using the Hauppauge 45 button remote

OK, changed to the default Blue skin in GBPVR (NOT Community) and this still happens no matter how GBPVR is started - with or without command lines- it's ALWAYS after the first time I go in to LiveTV and then press the Menu button on my Hauppauge 45 button remote. And there is no Live TV preview.
My wish is for GB-PVR to automatically switch to a different Hard drive that is pre selected to use when the main HD is getting too full. So if I go on vacation and my Hard drive starts to fill up it can automatically change to a different HD and keep going. Could this be done?
We are having a problem that I am not sure how to isolate.
Whenever we go to use the MediaMVP, we have to restart the computer, then power down the MVP.
While watching a recorded show, we may lose connection, and get the icon in the upper right hand showing a broken connection. This used to only occur when the computer when into hibernation, it now appears more random. To recover from this error, we need to restart the computer and power down the MVP.
I have tried:
1. Only restarting GB-PVR services only and repowering the MVP
2. Restarting the router and repowering the MVP. (sometimes works)
3. A combination of 1 and 2.
I suspect that there may be some issue with my router (EH100) but I do not know how to tell. I am hoping that someone can decipher these logs and help me to find a solution.
I have a few days old PVR-500. How do I tell if it has Samsung or Phillips chips? Everything that I can see is either Conexant or ESMT. Or am I not looking in the right place? Or isn't this a problem for the pvr-500?
