zap2it changed their digital ATSC channel reports recently, substituting base channel frequency for the customary PSIP "major.minor" channel numbers. To maintain EPG, GB-PVR users have to reallocate all channels to correspond to the new scheme.
This results in some annoying by products when using GB-PVRs EPG. I'd like to learn a little more about GB-PVR channel naming and display to see if I could modify things more to my liking.
GB-PVR maintains a database of Channel Name and Source Channel. I initially set these up by updating EPG from zap2it. zap2it EPG names end up in Channel Name and GB-PVR assigns Source Channel integers in order.
I have set up desired channel order via the Channels tab, by modifying the internal GB-PVR source channel #s.
Can I also modify the Channel Name, originally downloaded from zap2it? Or would this break the EPG update function?
I've hand-made a region file for my nearest transmitter and added it to GB-PVR so I don't have to sit through scanning of 47 channels. I'm happy to produce similar files for the rest of the UK regions, in case any others are missing, but of course I don't necessarily know where they actually are offhand, so I'd personally just put 'em all under "UK", alphabetically ordered...
I've somehow got my GB-PVR installation into a state where it's got some "recurring" recordings marked as "conflicting", because it thinks that they are all concurrent at 00:00 on 01/01/0001! Unlike normal conflicts, there's no "Resolve" option for them, just "Delete", which doesn't do anything.
Any ideas what might be wrong? Dodgy EPG data (I'm using the XMLTV source because DVB-T EPG doesn't work for me at present), perhaps?
I've recently started using GB-PVR and have had it working well using an xmltv TV guide, but thought I may as well switch to using the DVB-T program guide information. What I'm finding, though, is that GB-PVR cannot grab any DVB-T EPG data at all. I've tried to attach config.exe.log and config.exe-native.log - the former shows a NullReference exception and the latter shows that CreateRecorder() fails, which I assume means that GB-PVR has no way of grabbing the EPG data - but I'm afraid the forum keeps showing an error when I upload the Zip file containing them.
A few related questions & comments:
1. When is DVB-T EPG update scheduled, normally? It strikes me that it really needs to be dealt with by the recording service, so that it can avoid trying to grab EPG data when the tuner(s) are in use, for example, but perhaps this is already what it does?
2. In the UK, we have various channels which only exist at certain times of day. It would therefore be very handy to be able to "update" an existing table of scanned channels, so that by doing a Map Channels to EPG at various times of day, you can fill out the bits you missed on previous occasions. Perhaps the current interface actually supports this, but it wasn't clear to me that it did!
3. E4 doesn't exist! It's visible through other software, but not through GB-PVR. Looking at the list of regions in the card settings, I suspect that this is because the MUX settings for my region are outside the All Regions range.
4. I'm finding that VMR9/VMR9Custom performance is slightly stuttery, Overlay mode has great performance but rubbish aspect-ratio handling and VMR7 has good performance and almost completely working aspect-ratio handling. Just an FYI, really.
I am running windows server 2003, and have installed .net 1.1, .net 2.0, WM9.0 and rebooted between each. The install ran fine, but at the end when it ran configure, it crashes out with an unhandled exception. I also get this exception when I run configure manually...
Please help! I don't know what else to do here. I read in the wiki that windows 2003 was in fact supported, so I am hoping this can work...
Thanks!
Below is the info I am seeing:

Last night my GBPVR became quite slow without any noticeable reason. I tried to close it and start again. It was starting incredibly slowly - the UI showed in about a minute, then another minute or two it was frozen and did not react to any button presses.
I checked the log and found a lot of messages like in the subject. I left it running overnight and in the morning 8MB of log files were filled with this message:
I'm attaching the first log file, which has some other info before all these lines - maybe it will help.
Forgot to mention - I'm running GB-PVR v0.98.13, and using the following plugins: TV Listings, XRecord, MyVideos, MyMusic, Weather, and CommunitySkin. And this setup has been working pretty well for about a month.
I just got a new HDTV, 16x9 aspect ratio. I want to start recording in HD on the PVR, it's a 3GHZ with 1gig of RAM, so it should be more than adequate after I add more disk. The video card in my PVR has an analog video out that I currently take and feed into a video modulator with audio, which feeds it onto the antenna cable that feeds the house on channel 3. This is all analog, and not even close to HD of course. So I need to do a few things.
1. I need to get an ATSC HD capable tuner card or two for recording
2. I need to figure out how to get a 16x9 HD signal out of the PVR machine and into the TV, which is approximately 100 feet away from the PVR machine. This is two parts, getting a 16x9 aspect ratio on the PVR machine, and getting that signal in HD and out to the TV.
Recommendations on tuner cards would be appreciated. ATSC US only please. The second one is where I'm most stuck though. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated. I'm somewhat of a newbie to the digital TV/HD/16x9 aspect ratio stuff. I've been around and into TV for a long time (dad worked at a TV station), but this is my first foray into anything beyond traditional analog TV.
My problem seems to stem around the GBPVR application. I see the application running on the task bar on the main screen, it runs full screen on the secondary allowing me to work on the primary screen.
However if I am in any other application working so GBPVR loses the focus then the remote does not work.
Alot of times I will be watching something, then go jump on the computer real quick for work, then go back to watching the movie and well discover the remote is not working. So I have to get up, go click on the GBPVR application and then go back to relax.
Is there any way that I can add Internet radio stations to the Net
Radio list. I have certain stations I listen to that I would like to add
to my GB-PVR
