Hello all,
I've been using GBPVR for about a year now, and things were working perfectly, up until my hard drive crashed. I have now installed a new drive, and reinstalled the OS (XP SP2), and all the latest drivers from Hauppauge's website (PVR-350), as well as the latest GBPVR (97.13).
Everything works, but the recordings that I'm getting are terrible since the reinstall. I'm using the default Medium settings, which were fine before, but now the recordings are very blocky and digitzed looking. I've tried using the high quality settings, which help, but even then the quality of the recordings aren't as good as what I used to get at medium, and the file sized are almost twice as big!
It's not a playback issue, as I can play the recordings on my other computers in the house with the same results. I'm guessing that something must have changed with the Hauppauge drivers? Since my old drive is trashed, I have no idea what version I was using previously.
Since upgrading to the latest version i have a problem that i've never had before. In the video library if i highlight a video file and press ok it plays fine. However if i highlight the video file and move left and press play, i get the message
Error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
this seems to happen with every file.
any ideas? i have attached the only log file that updates when i recreate the error. is that the correct one?
Could we have more control over the rendering of the task description, for example it would be nice to use DrawTexrWithOutline.
Maybe treat it like a panel, or a CompositeImage in Main Menu.
Notice the sore thumb below.
BTW, the specified font color for the description is identical to that of the fill color for the panel text. Your eyes are OK, they do render differently. This must be a bug.
I finally got around to doing a clean install of windows on my GBpvr PC. This was prompted by extremely slow response and a few failed/poor recordings. The results have been almost phenominal. (well to me anyway) However this took me almost 5 hours of installing software, finding old install disks, cursing, looking for other disks, dowloading drivers (fortunately there is another PC sitting on my desk), etc.
I was wondering if there is a way to make a current image of my C drive which now only contains about 5GB's of files so that I could repeat this process by simply stickig a DVD disc in the PC and rebooting. Or even better by simply copying off of one of the other hard drives.
I know there used to be a program called ghost from Norton that does this but it always seems to get terrible reviews. I know that it didn't work for me back when I still had other norton programs on my PC.
I wish I had partitioned my C; drive before I reinstalled windows since it appears that I won't ever need more than about 10gb for the operating system and program files. That is if I can quit messing about with the software.......
Has anyone else experienced this problem? Your help in helping me determine the cause of the problem would be appreciated.
I have attached an image of the event property from within the event viewer. If you need other information let me know and I will provide it.
Generaly things seem to work ok although I always get an error message when I exit out of GBPVR. My Music also doesn't seem to work. It will play one song and not go on to the next. Not sure if this has anything to do with the runtime error or not. I have tried disabling zone alarm to see if it was part of the problem although no difference.
I'm trying to follow the instructions to get HIP working with GBPVR and the instructions say:
"Next, you need to load a Key Map into HIP. The map contains a list of all the buttons
on the MCE remote and its IR code. From the Main Configuration window of HIP, go to
Remote I/O/Remote Key Map."
That option is greyed out for me! Anyone see this before?
Has anyone had any luck getting the Hauppauge WinTV-PVR150's IR Blaster to work with a Motorola DCT2524 (Comcast Digital Cable) STB?
I see if the IR idea won't work then the box apparently responds to serial commands. How do I set up GBPVR/HIP to use serial? It looks like BeyondTV does this out of the box, but there should be a way for it to work in GBPVR, yes?
I prefer GBPVR because it allows me to view photos and play music as well, whereas that's a 70 dollar add on to BeyondTV (a 70 dollar product in and of itself!). This is the only problem I'm having... getting GBPVR to change channels on my comcast box through a serial cable! Please help!
Nearly at my wit's end, so hopefully this all makes sense.
Did a hardware upgrade and went to a theoretically perfect (on paper) HTPC mobo around the beginning of June, and for whatever reason, GB-pvr seems to have a difficult time with my Hauppauge PVR150 tuner card. Setting it up as a 150 means that I get an "Error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object" message when going to LiveTV. Having searched the forums, I saw a reference from Sub that some PVR150s are actually PVR250s, and so I changed the capture source to a PVR250, which made it usable but flakey (good enough for recording the whole of the World Cup, and so here I am).
The same card worked just fine as a PVR150 in my old rig, with an MSI KM4AM, so that may not be the issue. Tried all sorts of earlier versions (94.13, 95.16, 97.07) of the app too, to no avail.
