Hi Folks,
Contrary to my name I use the PVR as a baby sitter for my kid in the morning. I get him set up with some water or orange juice (he won't eat in the morning) and one of his favorite shows and then I go and shower, make lunches and eat breakfast, the problem is that his kiddy shows are so short I often have to go back downstairs and start another show, sometimes twice, it'd be great to be able to queue up a few shows in to some sort of play list and then hit 'go' and have it play them in order. It'd be nice to have that in the evening as well, just queue a few shows up and then sit back and relax and leave the remote alone.
All of the sudden I have lost the audio on all channels of live TV (previously it was working fine), I have not made any recent changes to the setting so I have no idea what the issue is. When I go to scan channels through config there is the audio for the channel there but not in the GBPVR application.
Anyone know what this might be? I am using a freecom DVB TV stick.
I am testing GBPVR, so far it looks very nice! But I am having problems getting my Composite or SVideo working. The forums have multiple questions regarding this but none of the answers seem to work for me, including the Wiki. My intention was to use the SVideo/Composite for my VCR watching.
Any help setting this up would be appreciated!
I am using version 0.96.12 (latest version as of 2006-04-25), XP PRO with the latest updates and a Plextor 402TVU.
I currently have the cable tuner working fine. The SVideo is another matter. My Configuration:
Using: GPVR Config
Capture Sources:
Plextor TV
Recording Source: GO7007SB Recording Plugin (WORKS!)
Capture Card Type: Plextor ConvertX TV402U
Recording Source: Tuner

Tuning: Cable
Quality Profile Settings: Medium (using default settings)
EPG Source: Zap2It (configured with name/passowrd, WORKS!)
Chanel Changer: No Channel Changer Required
Channels: Loaded fine
S-Video

Manually added SVID at 100 using [ADD] button. I had to click [Update EPG] before the [ADD] button was clickable.
Channels tab:
All my channels from 'Plextor TV' appear but the SVideo channel seems to wander. Sometimes its at 100, then at 102. This may be caused by my ealier experimentations. I cleared the EPG (SVIDEO), reloaded the EPG but that made little difference. It also appears that adding a channel via "Capture Sources" does not show up immediatly in the "Channels" tab.
GB-PVR:
The program guide shows SVID but it has no channel listed and there is no black bar. It cannot be scrolled to and selected. manually recording this appears to work but nothing plays back, the play back screen does not even appear. It just bounces back to the menu.
I have verified there are no other PVR or tuner related applciations running besides GB-PVR.
On occasion I have gotton the SVID to appear but the audio is from the TV tunner. I even got it to do the reverse. I am not sure how this happened, it was late and I was just playing around with it.
If it helps SageTV handles the TV and SVid perfectly so I do not think it is hardware. I think I would prefer GB-PVR, especially since it has a CD player.
[RANT] How other "Media Centers" can be called such without CD player functionality is a mystery to me [/RANT]
In trying to solve issues with Lip Synch and Subtitles Synch using mencoder to convert a DVD Folder into mpg so that I can play it on the MVP, i found the MVPRecoder plugin that seems to give me the best mpg as far as quality and Synch. The TimeStamps are not quite perfect, but I guess I can live with that. (I press 20 Skip to try to skip 20 minutes in the future and I skip about 3 minutes). But again that is not a big issue now. What I want to do is make it run a bit faster. I am only getting 13FPS and it takes more than 5 hours to encode something that is already MPG2 (a VOB Set), only I want to show subtitles and that needs to reencode.
Pbs. Is there anything you see there that can make it run a little closet to realtime ?
I am not intersted in doing AVI or MPEG4 encoding to save space on the hard drive. I want an MPG file that I can play reliably on the MVP, which is my primary GBPVR frontEnd. So I can live with 3.5 or 4 Gigs per movie.
I am using GBPVR with PVR500 card on a system that is only connected via TV-Out to regular projection TV set. In this setup does it make any sense at all to deinterlace? The TV itself is interlaced so why go through a process of deinterlacing playback. I have tried chaning the deinterlace setting from encoder-passthrough to none and it did not seem to have any effect on picture quality. Wondering what the settings be in this scenario for optimal quality?
I wrote a small plugin for viewing online streaming videos. It works well, but i'm having problems with the resume function of GB-PVR. I love that function in local videos but it doesn't work very well when watching streams. I'm using this to lauch the video:
I apologize if this has been posted somewhere else - I have searched but could not find anything.
I recently setup my MVP along with gbpvr - I am not able to play my music files that are located on my PC. I can navigate to the music folder through gbpvr, however when I try to play a song, my MVP appears to reboot (goes back to "connecting to servers" screen, then the main menu). Any thoughts?
I'm sure this has probably been discussed before (since I can't imagine I'm the only one this is happening to), but I can't find a thread anywhwere. Is there a way to have GBPVR's play area expanded when playing recordings (and Live TV, I guess, too)? A few of my channels record a line of static at the top of the screen which can be very distracting. I've tried widening my viewing area through my vid-card settings (GeForce 6200) and I can't seem to expand everything enough to get rid of the static line and to also still see everything I need to on the desktop. I'm playing it through my regular television (no HD yet). I'd like to get GBPVR to just play things bigger if I can without expaning the whole desktop. Any suggestions?
