  Widescreen mode?
Posted by: clifford - 2006-04-12, 10:20 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (8)

hi guys. i've recently reinstalled my WinTV USB2 PVR and GBPVR, and everything is working grand except that the shows come through in chopped off widescreen mode. That is - it looks like it's taping on widescreen mode, but only showing me the center square.

I see that there is an aspect ratio dropdown on the MVP tab, but it's greyed out (does this mean that this is controlled by my WinTV?)

does anyone out there know what i can do, either through GBPVR or WinTV to correct the taping so it comes in as full screen such as when cable goes directly to my regular sized tv.

thanks
c

Am I askin' for a headache?
Posted by: Torque - 2006-04-12, 10:07 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (3)

I'm thinking about adding another Dish networks receiver box to the one I already have.

Here's the config I have now:
Dedicated computer with two PVR150 cards. One of the cards connects to my Dish Network's STB. I have a USB-UIRT configured to change the channel on the Dish STB. The other PVR card is connected to an antenna in my attic. I would use that 2nd card to connect to another Dish Networks STB.

Can the USB-UIRT to change the channel on both boxes? I thought i heard this was doable, but I can't find the topic.

Thanks.

  Need help - 2 x PVR 150 + 2 x DCTs = IR Hell
Posted by: Greek Wizard - 2006-04-12, 07:02 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (20)

My setup is kind of simple:

Latest GBPVR
2 x PVR-150 retail
1 Motorola DCT 2224
1 Motorola DCT 2500
2 x wired IR blasters that come with the PVR-150s

The issue I am having is when I setup the Channel Changer option to HaupBlast.exe on both, only one works.

I have since discovered that this is a bug, or something, that Hauppauge does not allow the PVR-150s the use both wired IR blasters

I am hoping someone will help me out soon regarding this, as I did not know there was an issue until after I bought my second DCT.

What would be the easiest (I live in Canada, not USA btw) that i can get the second box to work properly?

Ok I read this post: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=6639 but really does not affect me since I don't have DirecTV

I do know that the DCT 2500 does have an IR port in the back and it IS activated in the system menu. Not sure about the Serial port.

Here is a pic of my config screen:

I has doing Ok with just one digital box and one straight cable, but once I updated GBPVR, the straight cable channels got very fuzzy and would not be in tune anymore. i tried changing the channels to the mhz number, but I never got some channels to work still.

Can anyone help me here please?

TIA

newbie Q: advantages of gbpvr over win XP MCE??
Posted by: arjay - 2006-04-12, 05:52 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (15)

I already have a win XP MCE 2005 box and am fairly happy with mce. Obviously I don't relish paying for it but that has already happened <g>. I have all the usual reservations about MS (I have linux on all my other boxes - but got fedup with the problems in getting mythtv to run. I had an old copy of XP lying around, so only had to shell out for mce).

However, now I have everything up and running in mce (only 10 minutes and a couple of the usual crashes later all was good). I live in Spain but get Sky via a UK setup.

My questions are:

1. I would like to give gbpvr a go. Will it coexist happily alongside mce on the same PC?

2. Can I use the MS wireless keyboard and remote (with remapping if necessary)?

3. What would people say are the advantages in terms of actual facilities/options/add-ons etc?

4. Any reasons why I shouldn't switch?

Thanks for any help. BTW I DID search this and other forums but couldn't find much in the way of a decent comparative review of the two products - mainly just anti-Microsoft stuff with which I mainly concur. (But it doesn't help understand the differences in the products)

RJ

NOTE - Edited to re-number questions!

  Batch file timeout problem
Posted by: kdoub - 2006-04-12, 05:33 PM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - No Replies

I'm using the mencoder script as my postprocessing but I'm pretty sure my problem is a local computer setting, just hoping someone might have run into it before.

I seem to be having my scripts timeout. I'm running a 2 pass encode but only the first ever gets completed.

If I run the batch manually it works fine. If I use psexec to run it as localsystem, it errors out during the first encode.

Anyone aware of a timeout setting or other restriction that can be set for the localsystem account?

  DVD's and MVP...?
Posted by: kam25 - 2006-04-12, 04:56 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (1)

Does anyone know if there is a way to play a DVD with your PC's DVD drive and have it stream to the MVP the way live TV does...? If I run GB-PVR on the PC it plays the DVD's fine, but if I run GB-PVR through the MVP, the DVD choice is not on the Menu. I installed the xDVD plug-in, and that now shows on the menu, but doesn't seem to do anything when I select it....can anyone out there educate me on this...??

When I try to use the gbpvr web admin, by accessing http://localhost:7647/gbpvr/guide.aspx , I get the following error page:

  Winlirc IREx repeat problem
Posted by: smitty1 - 2006-04-12, 02:22 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Hello, I am a new GB-PVR user converted from MythTV. I am having an issue with my remote. I am using a Lirc homebrew receiver and a Sony remote from my home theater system. I followed the Wiki to set it up and used my config file from MythTV. Everything works great exept when I push any button on the remote it repeats it 2 or 3 times. For example when I push “5” I get “555”. It worked fine under MythTV, so I am not too sure what is going on here. I know with Lirc in the .lircrc file you can specify a repeat parameter and set it to “0” to prevent this. I did not have to do this with MythTV but is there a way to do this with WinLirc or IREx? Is my remote to sensitive? It is pretty annoying when I trying to use the remote. Please Help?
