  Change how filenames are displayed
Posted by: wetwired - 2006-04-06, 06:25 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (5)

I have a lot of mpeg files I want to watch through the MVP. The filenames are not in a standard format, they contain meta data like dates...
Is there a way to change how the filenames are displayed in the user interface besides renaming the actual mpeg files? Some sort of string manipulation on the fly?

Any help appreciated.

Comskip 0.79 build 32: Some bugs solved and Beyond TV added
Posted by: erik - 2006-04-06, 06:01 PM - Forum: Community Announcements - Replies (1)

When logging is enabled Comskip will show in the log file all timeline errors to help solving the buggy PVR150 driver problem. (yes, I have one too)

After some serious work on the MPEG decoder I think I have solved many of the audio/video synchronisation and timeline problems.
Some serious MPEG Transport Stream and DVR-MS testing could further improve Comskip so keep sending me your feedback.

From the change log

Changes in 0.79.32
- Added the BTV Smartskip output format, set output_btv=1 in the comskip.ini file to enable
- Bug solved: AC3 sound volume is too high causing missing of black frames
- Bug solved: Recording with 3/2 pull down has wrong frame numbers leading to incorrect cut points
- Bug solved: The volume_slip default value is too low
- Added parameter in ini file: ms_audio_delay=5 set to the number of frames audio lags video in dvr-ms files. Default value of 5 should be OK for most recordings.

Jerky Live/Recorded Picture/Voice out of Sync
Posted by: codacoda - 2006-04-06, 05:52 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

I have everything up and running and am pretty much pleased with it. But there must be some tweaks that I need to make.

This is my system:

GBPVR PC Specs:

Pentium 4 2.00 GHZ
512 Mb Ram
Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
Service Pack 2
NVIDIA GeForce MX-420
Emuzed Maui III-G
S-Video

It is dedicated to the GBPVR, nothing else is running.

I get a jerky picture sometimes. Especially when I watch something like CNN or CNBC where there is a news scroll bar on the bottom. The news bar jerks all over the place. The picture is also very jerky during fast action sequences. Strangely enough, out of the blue, the video and audio get out of sync by a couple of seconds.

Any ideas as to what I can do to fix this?

Playback VCD ISO using daemon tools
Posted by: pkdhar - 2006-04-06, 04:53 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

Hi,
I am a newbie in the HTPC PVR world and learning by mistakes starting with the hardware. I finally rigged up a decent configuration AMD64 3200+Asus A8N SLI Dlx + NVidia 6800 SLI + 500GB + PVR350 + Silverstone LC16M + iMON remote.
My first choice for PVR was GB-PVR and I have configured it to get some things running.
I have a collection of some old movies in VCD's and I made ISO's out of them.I have not been able to play them using daemon tools through GB-PVR. The DVD ISO's play correctly. Also the VCD ISO files get locked by daemon tools when played and if another movie DVD ISO is played then it does not get mounted after the locking and daemon tools error msg box pop up.

Any suggestion to get past this problem ?

  Development Questions for Sub.
Posted by: SuperG - 2006-04-06, 04:22 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (6)

Sub,

I have a bunch of questions that are more curiosity than requests. I have next to no programming experience so this truely is just a 'howzat work?" type of post.

1. With dual processors, Hyperthreading, and the dual core one processor almost ALWAYS sits unused. This is due to the fact that nobody writes multi-threaded applications. Why is that? Is the programming extremely complex to accomplish that? Can Software be written to be specifically run on the second processor or is that in the hands of the OS or hardware?

2. As near as I can tell there really isn't anything in GBPVR that would benefit from multi-threading but it sure would be nice to be able to offload live TV to its own processor. Can you see any theoretical advantage to this or am I missing the forrest through the trees?

Thanks for your time and efforts Sub!

AMD Athlon 2200+XP problems running at full speed
Posted by: dinki - 2006-04-06, 03:12 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (11)

I'm running an AMD Athlon 2200+XP processor on an ECS motherboard. When I installed XP and gbpvr I had the processor underclocked to a 1500+XP (clock of 100). Today I tried to bump the cpu speed back to full speed (clock of 133). The machine boots into windows and gbpvr as normal. It will playback recorded programs fine, but when I try to watch live tv I get mixed results.

When I first booted, I tried to enter live tv and was informed it couldn't find the stream. I tried again and got it to work but there was no sound. I tried changing the channel and I got a scrambled picture with lots of distorted audio.

I restarted and changed my cpu settings back to 1500+XP and everything is back the way it was. Anyone have any ideas as to why I can't get my tuner(s) to work at the higher clock speed?

I've got 512megs ram, a pvr150MCE and a pvr150 nonMCE.

  EPG Update Problem
Posted by: paperchaser - 2006-04-06, 03:06 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

When I try to load the EPG I get:

Failure in ChannelFactory:ConfusedtoreChannels(): Invalid argument

I get this error whether I use the xmltv plugin and load from a file or if I use the zap2it plugin.

Using the xmltv plugin, I edited the xml listings file and removed all programs. The channels loaded no problem. I then added the first program to the file, no problem loading. If I try to add another program, I get the error on loading.

Any ideas?

  Missed a Recording

I've never had a problem with missed recordings, but that's what happened last night. GBPVR did not record "Lost". Here is from the log file. Can someone interpret?
