I have just installed GB-PVR, I have be using Showshifter and myHTPC before that. I was surpised how easy this was to configure and it was up and running within an hour, this was so much easier than the previous applications anyway -
I have 1 question that is not intuive to me from the set up, I would like to run a XMLTV collection program at scheduled times to update the show guide data - but where is this configured ? it must be possible as I have seen articles relating to EPG updates.
I've got basic analog cards now, but I've been flirting with the idea of getting a digital capture card. I'm in the US. But from the (little) research that I've done, I haven't been able to find much. I assume they are new?? (i.e. Hauppauge doesn't really advertise them that strongly on their site). Also, I just have basic cable here in the US and an analog TV. Is it even worth it?
My questions are:
1. Which company is the premiere in digital capture cards? (I assume it's not Hauppauge). Which cards should i be looking at?
2. Do I need digital cable?
3. Do I need a different TV?
I've been playing with GBPVR using a Nova-t (model 90002) for a while, and decided (stupidly it now seems) to delete all my epg channels and start afresh. Now, though, when I try to map channels to the epg, I just get the message that GBPVR can't start up the card. All the settings are as they should be, and as they were before, so it's a mystery to me why it won't work any more.
I am using an XCard, which I know causes problems, but I have disabled and uninstalled it before attempting to scan for channels, which did the trick before. With the Xcard installed, the computer shuts down completely on channel search, but this is not the problem now. Previously, I was able to reinstall the XCard after doing the channel mapping, and then run GBPVR without problems; there was never the same problem with the computer shutting down when watching in timeshift mode or when updating the TVGuide using the DVB broadcast epg.
Anyway, as I say, the XCard shouldn't be the issue now, so does anyone have any ideas what may have gone wrong? The card is definitely still working fine- it runs as ever with myTheatre/DVBViewer, and GBPVR still finds it in the capture source settings section of the configuration (where you can tick for it only to display installed cards in the drop down menu, it comes up with the 90002 as the only option). I have tried changing the BDA scan number, even though the settings all worked as they were before, but to no avail.
the recording service seems to be OK, but I can't open config. I'm checking logs also. I did reboot...

In addition to just the series name repeated over and over and over and over again in the "blue" default skin, I'm looking for a skin that also includes the episode name. I believe the contour HC skin will do this, and it looks really nice & clean as well.
But before I take the leap and mess with my nice and stable version of GBPVR , I wanted to ask a question: In the Wiki, I flipped through the other skins but most do NOT show me a screen shot that will let me know if they display the episode name or not. So it there are alternaitives to the Contour that you're aware of, please let me know!
Thanks.
ps - I'll be using my system through a MVP if that matters at all.
With my "old" radeon 9800, GBPVR was working perfectly. But since I upgraded to an Asus Radeon X1900, GBPVR cannot see my tuner (config.exe crash, got a msg about the comb filter missing).
Anyway, I have tried with success Mediaportal, and also Cyberlink PowerCinema which come with the tuner.
Any advise or something to try?
If you have the same hardware combo, I will appreciated a lot if you could post me what you have listed in your XP device manager under the Audio, Video and Game controlers.
After finding this site and doing some research it sounds like I may have jumpped the gun when I purchased my 350 card. Anyway I have GB-PVR installed and can see and program the guide through the TV out card just fine. However, when I select a recording for playback it doesn't play on either the TV or PC Monitor.
Any help with GB-PVR config recommendations for the PVR-350 card would be greatly appreciated. I feel like I'm nearly there.
I have been having a great deal of 'fun' with getting signals with my Divco DVB-T-Plus. I recently bought two cards to work with. Currently they are in Different machines as - One with XP Pro and one with XP Media Centre.
I have the same issue on Both machines, it scans all channels and works great with Fusion HDTV. But no other package will scan channels, though Media Centre, picks up a couple of channels. Gb-Pvr None, and Media Portal None.
Things I have tried - Updating the drivers to 3.3, turning off the task agent. I have gone through the forums and tried a few edits of the config file. I noted there was a post with somthing similar, but nothing was resolved.
Audio works in the Dvico application but not in GBPVR. Video works great in both. I have tried all the options under the playback settings for audio. Installed with it is a PVR250, PVR500 as well. Any ideas?
