  Standby
Posted by: cmgeek2 - 2006-03-09, 02:00 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (8)

I have my remote setup so that I can put my machine to standby with the push of a button. Does anyone know how to turn the machine back on using the remote? Is this possible? Any other suggestions how I could do this?

Thanks

  A couple EPG update questions
Posted by: fla - 2006-03-09, 02:00 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

Is it possible to get the POSTUPDATEEPG.BAT to run minimized? If I am watching TV at the time the EPG updates, I see a DOS box popup for several seconds on top of my show (yes I know how to set the EPG update time). This seems to happen with the normal plugins as well as with the Xrecord suite plugins. The comskip stuff that runs after a recording does so invisibly.

Another question. After an EPG update, should the new information be available immediately in the guide (or Xguide)? I seem to have to exit/restart the GB-PVR front end to see the newest programming days in the guide. Is this a problem with my setup or is it normal?

Thanks in advance for any information.

  Related to the HUGE Database????
Posted by: Landru - 2006-03-09, 01:58 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (8)

As I previously posted, gbpvr.mdb is 2GB. Now two new issues:

Config.exe will not shutdown properly. Hit the ok button and it goes off into Never-Never land. Ending the process after an hour in the task manager generates a log to send to Microsoft and config window just stays there until I reboot.

2) EPG download is failing. Relavent area in config.exe log file is:

  Error in Guide
Posted by: wtg - 2006-03-09, 01:03 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

I received the following error using the base skin and scrolling right in the guide. It tossed me out of the guide and displayed the message. Afterwards the remote stopped working while the mouse and keyboard worked fine. Exiting and restarting, the remote again worked fine.

Never happened before.

  Offering Server Space
Posted by: dawisewun - 2006-03-08, 10:23 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

With all the downtime this site seems to have, I have an under utilized server that I am offering. I can give a few gigs and I have about a terabyte of transfer a month that I'm not coming close to using. If you could use the space let me know, either for hosting some of the downloads, or setting up a mirror.

Thanks,
Josh

How Can I Playback a dvd with Divx files through GBPVR?
Posted by: gapaga - 2006-03-08, 09:58 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (3)

I archived some tv episodes(divx format) onto a blank dvd and burned it with Nero in data mode. When I insert the dvd and try to play back the divx files under the dvd menu option, it says, no dvd is inserted.

I realize that the dvd I made is not formatted in a conventional dvd structure, but isn't there some kind of plugin or way to be able to playback divx files from a dvd source in GB-PVR?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  IR Blaster choice
Posted by: brw02005 - 2006-03-08, 09:30 PM - Forum: Hardware - No Replies

Ok I want to pick an IR blaster for changing the volume on my TV. I'm a pretty descent programmer and I care more about expandabilty than ease of use. I was thinking of using either UIRT or Actisys IR-200L. I understand I'll need girder or hip to rig this up but which one is the most expandible for most types of IR signals and do both have equilent distance assuming prefect line of sight and not so perfect. Just trying to get the best for my money and I'm hoping for the IR-200L since its the cheapest and I'm a poor college student who needs one last piece to finish his PVR.

  Release 2.0 went well

At 2:30AM this morning, my wife gave birth to our second child - a healthy baby girl. She was three weeks early, but weighed a decent 7 pound 2 ounces.

I wont be answering many questions over the next couple of weeks.
