I'm a noob to GBPVR running the latest release 09412.
PIII600
Win XP
PVR150
ATI AIW VE - PCI
running WinVNC server
connected to TV - no monitor
dedicated to PVR - no other functions running on the box.
There is a Showshifter installation disabled (ie; not running)
GBPVR records ok, got most stuff working, but whenever I use the menu via ir blaster or remotely via VNC - I get a crash. By "use the menu" I mean like, arrow down from say TV Guide to Recordings and boom - I get a crash.
See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just in time (JIT) debugging, the config file for this
application or machine (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.
When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the machine
rather than being handled by this dialog.
I can restart GBPVR and eventually get done what I want to do, but it's a bit cumbersome.
Now that Quicktime 7 is available for Windows, it means easy access to the very, very nice H.264/AVC codec.
I would love to be able to use this codec in GBPVR (Imagine how much space it would save over regular mpeg2 encoding and xvid/divx).
I've done some preliminary tests with the codec and I am completely amazed over how crazy this codec is, so for me this would be my nr. 1 feature sought after.
Has anyone been able to get this combination to work? Or if not, can you recommend a remote that does work with the SA explorer 8000 (and of course, gbpvr?)
While I see most folks here with the 500 seem to have audio issues with radio, my radio works fine in gbpvr, The problem I'm having is that no audio is being recorded with the .mpg stream. I also get no audio while watching live-tv.
I have a Hauppauge 500MCE, and a Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS and am running in winxp. Any ideas?
due to a request of cape-city, the shutdown plugin got enhanced again:
- removed option to define what 'shutdown' does (shutdown, standby, hibernate). instead:
- added new buttons 'standby', 'hibernate' and 'logoff' (by default commented out). all buttons except 'main menu' are optional. so you can define your prefered options.
- removed 'order'-attribute from skin-xml. the 'tab-order' of the buttons is now definied by the order of the <button>-tags itself. adding this was a bad idea (apologies!). this way skins supporting >=v2.0 don't need to be edited.
I just can't update the EPG from DVB. Other update sources work OK and so does viewing of DVB channels.
Here's the error in config.exe's log: 25-Sep-05 8:11:28 PM.328 INFO [144] Auto-Updating EPG

After so much experimenting, installing and uninstalling, i think i have a few codecs and dshow filters laying around in my system, that i don't use and probably should get rid of--though the problem is, i don't know which ones to remove and which ones to keep. I'm wondering if someone can help me and/or give me a general guideline on how to identify which of these i should remove and/or unregister.
With the latest of GBPVR, it seems like the latest additions include an automatic conversion process. I recently had this situation--a friend of mine wanted me to burn him a show, but rather than do it on dvd, i thought i'd pass it on to him in an .avi format. Now I have programs that can convert mpeg2 to avi, i'd like a plugin feature that can do the conversion selectively.
I did a little search and it sounds like a lot of the questions have to do with people wanting some transcoding features for the mvp. My wish is not for the mvp, just for the system set up directly to a tv. And it is to selectively adding the files that i want for conversion, maybe then select the conversion method, and then maybe even scheduling the conversion (cause it takes a long time, huh!?--a 60 minute, 3gb mpeg2 file has been converting for the past 4 hours, and its only at 60%)...
On a side note, when using avi, can someone who has experimented with different conversion methods (screen size, bitrate, divx version) maybe send me a quick little thing about what is the best speed/quality balance??
