OK, for the last 5 months I've been using each new release of gbpvr. It works great, except that about 15 of my channels are pure static. I know I can go and manually enter in the frequencies but it seems to cause crashing when there are too many manually tuned channels. I'm going to give it a try again, but I need someone to point me to a web site that lists channel frequencies for Canada. For the life of me I can't find one, and I've been searching for months. Please help, or offer some suggestions as to why I have so many poorly tuned channels. Thanks.
now that 94.12 has been out for a while, I was wondering if people could give some feedback about the transcoding feature. I just upgraded and hopefully will find out at the end of the day - work gets in the way of things sometimes.
I would like to know (I think others would as well) the quality of the recordings? I think it would be easier if people optimize their setup this way.
Important things to know would be the following:
Recording duration:
Recording quality: High/Med/Low
Original File Size:
Type of show: fast moving (sports)/slow moving (news)
After Transcode
File type: wmv/xvid/divx
Transcode setting: e.g. 1Mbs for WMV
Final file size:
transcode duration:
Comments on quality:
Also, Sub, I could just check when I get home, but will comskip still work after the conversion?
Wow I am very impressed with gbpvr. I have built a complete system in about 2 nights worth of work. Everything works except for pausing live TV
Here is my problem:
I hit the pause button on the remote control and the following message apears:
"Starting timeshift mode TV. Please wait."
So far looks normal. It stays like that for about 1 minute then my system reboots. No error messages nothing.
Here is my guess as to whats going on. gbpvr does not support the mpeg2 decoder on the VIA shipset (feature request as a result I am using software to decode. This boggs down the wimpy CPU. Pausing live TV requires simultanious recording and decoding which is too much for the CPU to handle. At some point something goes wrong and poof reboot. Any ideas?
Here is my setup
VIA SP1300
PVR-150
80W fanless power supply
160 Gig Seagate
No nothing new yet, but thought I'd pass along an update. I've got a bit of time to work on it, so I'm taking a crack at refactoring some of the code base, and adding some unit tests. Hopefully, once I'm done with the refactoring, the general code will be a bit easier to maintain, and there will be a suite of unit tests that can be run to verify that nothing was broken that was working before. One thing that will be done is to make it so that XRecord can run the scheduler itself to schedule any programs, instead of having to call the PostUpdateEPG.bat file or run the priorityrecording.exe file. Basically give it more of an integrated feel. PriorityRecording.exe will still be there and will still run in PostUpdateEPG.bat for nightly scheduling. The new public interface will just give plugins an easier way to actually schedule the programs.
I know there are a few bugs that some people are still experiencing but hopefully over the next several weeks, I can get those ironed out as well.
Finally, CDK Scheduler and the XRecord suite of programs (XGuide, XRecord, and XSearch) now have their source code hosted on SourceForge. This will allow easier development integration of changes, and a central repository for the source code. Bug reports may also be made at the SourceForge site as well, and that way Jorm, Jrock, or myself shouldn't forget about them. Any bug reports that we see posted on the Forums, we will try and add into the Bug tracker on the sourceforge site.
The sourceforge site for CDK Scheduler and XRecord is:
Please bear with us while we get used to the new environment. CDK Scheduler changes are going to take a while, as I build up the unit test suite for the existing features.
I hope there is someone who can give me an idea of where to look for the solution to my problem. I have wasted many hours and still can't rely on my pvr150. I am now using the latest pre-release 150 dvrs (23236) and the latest GBPVR.
I have never been able to get my PAL tuner locking reliably to channels. At present it usually gives audio and a red screen when I start GBPVR. If I then change channels I get the video back but there are signs of signal hunting before locking. Viewing Live TV via my MVP results in red screens, mostly, and video restarts every 30 sec.
So, I thought I would bypass the tuner and try using the vid/aud from a VCR. Occasionally, when first starting GBPVR, I get video and audio but if I change channels, the video goes blank (red or black) but the audio is fine and changes with the channel change. Other times there is blank video and good audio from the get go.
I am getting so frustrated with this lack of proper function, especially as I now find it doesn't work even with direct vid/aud input.
Do people really have reliable 150 systems? Is mine faulty? Any diagnostic leads would be very gratefully received.

help please
I've just setup a machine with GBPVR and I'm using the MCE remote control from Microsoft. However, I can't see how I'm able to control the volume in GBPVR using the volume keys on the remote. Any help would be appreciated.
