Anyone tried playing .avs files yet (AviSynth)?
Posted by: sub - 2005-09-19, 07:27 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (30)

Just wondering if anyone has tried playing an AviSynth .avs file yet?

These are small text files that can be used during the playback of AVI files to describe changes that should be applied. A couple of examples of what you'd use them for with GB-PVR on the MVP include dynamically resizing AVI files so they play fullscreen on the MVP, or altering the frame rate play correctly on the MVP (e.g. playing NTSC video on PAL MVP).

AviSynth seems really powerful to me. Its got some great features which I'm sure most people are not aware of.

  GBPVR with PVR150 & PVR500 -- Questions...
Posted by: Pilot - 2005-09-19, 06:04 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

With the new Fall TV season starting up, I sprung for a PVR500MCE for my existing GBPVR system that already had a PVR150MCE. I'm running WinXP SP2, and as of yesterday using the latest drivers from shspvr.com. Everything is now up and appears to be working. Had some initial problems with an object not found type of error after installing the PVR500 card and just using the Hauppauge PVR150 drivers for it, but removing everything Hauppauge and then reinstalling the shspvr.com drivers put everything to working state.

Anyway...having three tuners now is getting a little confusing at times, so questions:

1. Why does GBPVR always seem to choose the PVR150 card for LiveTV? Part of troubleshooting my original install problems caused me to remove the PVR150 from GPBVR, and then after I installed the PVR500 and got everything working, I installed the PVR150 as device #3. The PVR150 was used for LiveTV when it was device #1 and now as device #3. Both the PVR500 tuners are available, but it always chooses the PVR150. For recording, GBPVR just goes right down the device list (as long as they're available).

2. Does the Hauppauge tweak tool (the PVR150/500 settings) affect all three cards? Is there any way to isolate which card I'm modifying with the tweak tool? I'm sure the two PVR500 tuners are basically identical, but I'm sure there are differences between the PVR500 tuners and the PVR150 -- I'd like to be able to modify the brightness, contrast, etc., separately.

3. Anyone else running this tuner card configuration as well? Anyone been running it successfully for a long time who could maybe provide some advice on tweaking the video quality? I have plenty of hard drive space, so for me the higher quality the better. Also, please feel free to comment if there is a law of deminishing returns here. I'm mainly playing back my recordings on my big screen TV via MediaMVP, but I also sometimes watch shows just on my computer monitor.

4. I know I had more questions, but they've fluttered out of my head again. I'll add them as I think of them.

Thanks for any info anyone can provide. I'm loving having three tuners, and of course getting three tuners on two different cards installed and working caused me to learn a little more about GBPVR. I even figured out my own driver problem from reading the logs...I know...can you believe it? Someone other than Sub actually reads the logs? Haha.

MyMusic- Album picture incorrect for song playing
Posted by: DeepBlueC - 2005-09-19, 05:43 PM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (1)

I created an m3u playlist using Windows Media Player and included the album picture with it. When I play back a song on MyMusic it shows me the album art from another song I have.

I have also seen this behavior on MyVideos where the fileName displayed and the file played are out of sync.

Any ideas.

  Selective conversion
Posted by: erikl - 2005-09-19, 05:34 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (2)

Yes, as the subject states, i would like to be able to select in the recording-setup which recordings should be converted after they been recorded.
Like a box to tick in or something.

Why this then?
Well, i watch my simpsons-episodes on my pda, but only them, and it would be neat to have them alreadymade when i'm about to copy them to my pda.

MVP picture too big on TV screen
Posted by: haaske - 2005-09-19, 05:00 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (10)

I am relativley new to the GBPVR/MVP scene. I believe I understand how everything works, but I am having one problem with my MVP. The default picture was too big and I finally found MVPScreenPos (which did not work too well) and adjusted the menu screens to fit my TV; however watching LiveTV and Recordings & Video Library still is not right. I assumed the settings were tied together, but they are not. The picture is too big for the screen. I can tell this because the (US) CBS logo "eye" is cut off on the screen; same for the X in FOX.

I am using the RCA outputs on the MVP and inputting that to my VCR as a make shift RF modulator as my TV does not have S-Video or RCA inputs. The tuner in the VCR displays picture sizes correctly; however, the MVP does not.

Any ideas? I tried to make adjustments on the TV, but that did not work either.

  MVP & GBPVR Integration documentation
Posted by: rob_z11 - 2005-09-19, 04:09 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (3)

I just picked up MVP from Radioshack for about $40, and want to know if there is good documentation on integration between GBPVR and MVP.

I am currently running GBPVR, and I love it, but I am excited about MVP server portion of the GBPVR.

Last question, do you have to have two PVR-150 to run two MVP1000 together to watch TV live? I am pretty sure this is no brainer that you have to have two tunner, but just to make sure.

  Can't change channels in source
Posted by: dave404 - 2005-09-19, 03:37 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

New user, v. 0.94.12 on XP Pro SP2, Hauppauge PVR-250.

I'm using an NTL set-top box here in the UK, but I am trying to get terrestrial channels set up first on the RF bypass, before moving on to cable via composite. WinTV 2000 picks them up fine, but when I try to assign the correct tuning channels (as found in WinTV and by the Tuning Assistant) for them by Editing the Capture Source, the changes never seem to stick, and revert to 33-37 consecutively numbered whatever I do.

I'm sure this must be a no-brainer - what am I missing?

I have the source set up for a Hauppauge 250, antennae range, internal tuner, no channel changer. I'm using bleb for the epg, as xmltv radiotimes seems to have stopped working at the moment. Does this have something to do with it??

TIA,

Dave

  AVI Mux buffering?
Posted by: billranton - 2005-09-19, 02:41 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (2)

Hello,

First, thanks for a great pvr. It's really stable compared to the others I have tried.

My question/request is about the graph produced for recording in avi format (for divx). During recording, my disk light is flashing very quickly. I had a look at the graph used, and it seems that the interleaving mode of the AVI Mux is set to 'None' and not 'None (buffered)'. If I manually change it and run the graph again, the disk seems much less stressed. I'm having problems with my Plextor M402U freezing up, which might be system stress related, so could gbpvr set this in a future release, or have I missed a preference to do it now? Is there some incompatibility this could cause?

  On-demand MVP servers
Posted by: wtg - 2005-09-19, 12:57 PM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

I'd love to see a feature where gbpvr would startup an MVP server on demand and then shut it down when it's no longer being used. I know gbpvr would still have to have a listener to receive the MVP request for service, but it should reduce the memory footprint considerably.

I have two MVPs but they are only both being used like 1% of the time, if that. The running services seem to take up somewhere from 40 to 70 meg of ram each. It'd be nice if that memory were available to other processes when the MVPs aren't being used.
