It is there on a lot of screens but I wish there was an 'Exit to main menu' especially from TV Guide and preferably all screens. This is necessary because I use Intervideo Home theater remote with which I can only use up/down/OK buttons to navigate. I have to go to the PC to hit the escape button to get me out of TV guide.
I would like the thank 'sub' for his help with what I "thought" I could do, but was obviously wrong.
Currently I get my TV through a DirecTivo box, so that means that I am a Satellite subscriber.
I do understand that the capture card that I have PVR250 does not know anything about satellite signals. (thanks sub for explaining this)
Since I will need a directv reciever to get the signals and decode them, does anyone have a reccomendation on which reciver I should get? It would have have output to svideo and audio so that I can plug those into the capture card.
Are there any "tuner" cards for us satellite folks that work with directv?
This is my first post...I have been lurking around here for almost a year now as I studied this HTPC design/concept.
It has been an exciting challenge and I want to thank everyone in this community for their patience and helpful attitudes toward others and their generosity and time to help others in this hobby.
There is a wealth of information here and I am very respectful of the moderators of the forum and developers of the GBPVR software.
I havenât tried other programs but instead settled on GBPVR early in the process based primarily on you guys.
As stated ...this is my first HTPC attempt. After almost a year of study and four months of actively searching, learning and buying/assembling gear/components...I put it all together in the final assembly last night.
I only have one immediate question/problem and that is posted in a separate topic "avermedia m150 appropriate driver".
Aside from that...everything is up and running without a hitch so far.
I still have a lot of work to do however.....now the tweaking begins. And I expect at least several weeks/months in just tweaking the registry and individual components, drivers, applications, patches, software etc....
I have yet to connect to my Toshiba HDTV RPTV display...I am using a small test TV on the bench for now in hopes to get most everything stable, primary PC talking to the HTPC via wireless and everything playing nice before moving the HTPC box into the theater room
I know I have a lot to learn...and at the expense of being a nuisance...I will probably have to ask a lot of questions and plea for experienced guidance.
I hope that I can be a valuable addition to this brain trust and offer my limited (but growing) experience to everyone here.
Everything except the m150 is installed and working so far on this new/first time build.
Any help in respect to locating/installing/configuring the appropriate W2K SP3, m150 driver/HW/SW would be a great help. I hope to get it right the first time.
I did find the post concerning editing the .inf file but nl info on the drivers to facilitate GBPVR.
Are the standard WQHL drivers on the aver site the right ones? Which release? Am I better off using the Hauppauge pvr150 drivers instead?
I am not a computer idiot, but this PVR is all new to me... and well, with Direct TV and TIVO falling by the waste side.. I thought I would try to make my own.
I have a spare PC (P4 2.2 with 1 gig of ram and 2 80 gig HD's) I thought that this would be a good machine to start with.
I bought the Hauppauge 250 (since it was on the list)
I installed a fresh copy of WinXP Sp2, got all of the updates, installed the capture card and I have no little yellow marks in the device manager.
So... here is where I sit.
Currently ... I am using a Dual tuner Diretivo unit from Hughes... and I would like to be able test the new PVR PC.
I thought I would be able to split the sat signal and put one of the lines into the PVR PC just for testing... but I am getting snow...
Then I thought... well.. I would have to split the signal coming out of the reciever, but that goes to the TV.. so I think I am confusing myself?
Hi. I've been playing around with gb-pvr on my new Sapphire for a few hours now and I cannot get it to play LiveTV properly: there is audio on all channels, but no video. The card works fine with both Power Cinema and Beyond TV.

I was wondering solutions people are using to locate their ISP assigned IP in order to access GBPVR web admin.
My problem is this. I don't have a static IP. So every once and awhile my public IP changes. I'm looking for a way to collect my IP from my web based router and e-mail it or post it in my web space provided by my ISP.
Any ideas? To access my router it requires I enter a password but no username. I tried IE's "make page available offline" feature, the setup a Auto FTP program to send the file to my web server. This almost worked. But the file that arrived at my webserver was just a internet shortcut rather then the web page it self. Apparently I did not find the actual HTML doc on the HD. I'm not sure where it's located.
sorry for asking silly basic stuff, but it's quicker than searching
1) how do I configure GBPVR to use Media Player Classic as default player?
2) how I configure GBPVR to use AC3Filter (not listed) as my preferred audio decoder?
3) how do I configure player to use SPDIF?
Please consider adding the day of the week (or abbreviation) to the date already displayed when looking at Pending (ie shows to be recorded). I am constantly having to glance up to my wall calendar to see what day is 9/16/2005, for example.
Perhaps this addition would help in other windows as well.
Thanks.
I recently bought two MVPs, but have only hooked up one at this point - I've run out of router ports and haven't bought another switch just yet. I plan to remedy that this weekend however, which leads to my question.
Do I need to set the Autostart MVP servers value to two once I hook up my second MVP, or can I leave it set to 1 and will a second service start on-demand? It would be nice if I could leave it at 1 since then the service wouldn't consume any resources when not being used, which will be 95% of the time in my case.
