  MSI Mega 180 HTPC?
Posted by: cfreukes - 2005-09-26, 04:57 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (3)

Greetings and salutations to all, I'm a long time reader and 1st time poster....

I'm just getting into this hobby and I have a few general noob questions I'm hopping some of you will help me with.

I just built a new box to run gbpvr its a MSI Mega 180 HTPC
http://www.msi.com.tw/html/active/2004/m...apc180.htm

Have any of you built one of these yet? Its a pretty sweet little box. Mine is doing pretty well but I'm having some trouble with the IR features.

I put a Hauppauge PVR250 in it (not mce). It came with a small silver remote and an IR dongle. I can get the hauppauge remote working with the GBPVR interface but I would like to use the remote that came with the system or perhaps one of the original TV remotes. The 180 has a built in IR system to support its remote. Is there any way I can use it instead of the Hauppauge remote?

How do I get the GBPVR to change my Charter/Motorola cable box so I can watch the digital channels?

My other question is about zap2it TV listings. Is zap2it the best service to use? It said its free for a trial. Can somebody tell me what it costs to use or if there is something better?

Posted by: Wirsing - 2005-09-26, 04:37 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

Hello. Smile

The European Model of the Plextor TV402U is shipped with
a 36 button Remote Control including a small USB receiver.
Did anybody get this device to work under GBPVR yet?

Any hint in the right direction is greatly appreciated.

  US -> Europe hardware compatibility
Posted by: LilY0da - 2005-09-26, 04:33 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (3)

Hey y'all. Had a question for you TV-savvy people
I may have to move from the US to Europe soon, and was wondering what I could take with me

I saw voltage adapters (up to 7500 watts) for a decent price, so I suppose that ain't an issue. I saw SCART to S-video adapters, so at least connector wise, I'd be able to plug a Euro satellite TV box into a TV or my PVR-500, for exemple.

However, what I don't know is wether a S-video or composite output is still using NTSC/PAL codings, or if that's only for antenna/cable reception over coax cable
So, does anyone know if I can reuse my TV, MVP or Hauppauge capture cards in Europe?

[My Programs] Setting priority of programs
Posted by: venger - 2005-09-26, 03:05 PM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - No Replies

Hello again Reven Smile

While you are updating the My Series.. I just thought I pass on a feature idea for My Programs :

Providing an option to set the priority of each program (eg, app, emulator) : High, Above Normal, Normal, Below Normal, Low.

I would imagine that some programs (such as emulators) can take alot of CPU%. When this happens, the GBPVR recording service seems to have trouble recording properly (eg, blocky, jumpy video, with scratchy audio).

Just wondering if adding the above option can help avoid the problem. ie, combo of 'AboveNormal' recording service with 'BelowNormal' (or even 'Low') running programs.

cheers,

  ff/skip/rewind issues with MVP
Posted by: savage - 2005-09-26, 02:57 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (6)

I have the Hauppauge PVR 150 card in my PC.

My problem is that I can't fast forward/rewind/skip on shows that I have recoreded. When I pause live tv, I can rewind and fast forward. I've unistalled and reinstalled the Hauppauge IR software on my computer, thinking that may have been the issue, but nothing.

Is anyone else having this issue when they use GBPVR with MediaMVP?

Can You Use WinTV PVR USB-2 FM Radio With GBPVR?
Posted by: 4zm4r3d02 - 2005-09-26, 02:26 PM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (1)

I can't seem to get the FM plugin to work with my WinTV PVR USB-2. When scanning for stations, it never finds any. The FM Radio application supplied by Hauppauge works fine, but I can't use it with my MVP.

the plugin works great for most things and thanks for it.

I have a few request however if it's not too much to ask.

1. The record button doesn't do record on live TV. I believe this might be because that command has recently changed due to a conflict with record and the red button.

2. Can you add a button equivalent to the go/home button on the Hauppauge 45 button remote? Maybe the checkmark button or even the question mark if possible.

3. Can you not assign anything to the volume and mute button so that it will send to the master volume instead of GBPVR? The volume buttons don't always work in all the plugins. Also, the mute button doesn't work at all.

Thanks,
Jam.z

Is there a way to power on external tuner before recording
Posted by: Cybergy - 2005-09-26, 01:09 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

Sorry if this is dead simple or buried deep in some options panel, but I'm not seeing it...

My tuner source for recordings is external. It's a digital cable box plugged into the SVideo port on my PVR150. When I setup a recording, my IR Blaster sends the channel code to the tuner and away she goes - works great.

However, GBPVR is connected to the family TV set and we all share this digital cable box on the common household TV. IE; ONE tuner for both GBPVR and biological units. Wink They have proven to be much more difficult to program than the computer; sometimes they turn the tuner off when they are done, sometimes not.

If the last person to use the TV has powered the external tuner off, then changing the channel prior to my next recording does not do a damn bit of good if the tuner isn't powered on. Is there a way for GBPVR to confirm that the external tuner is on? Sending a "change power state" type of command to the tuner may in fact turn it off if it was powered on already - so I'm not sure if this is possible..

Do I just try make sure nobody ever powers the tuner off?

Thanks,

Signed, Noob +1
