Move Recordings
Posted by: Jokabomo - 2018-02-08, 03:16 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

I am trying to move my recordings to a new disk. I went to settings and clicked Export Recordings. Then moved the files to the new drive. Then edited recording-backup.xml, replacing all the drive letters. Then I tried to Import Recordings and it said 0 recordings imported. Did I miss a step? Do I need to clear out the database somehow?
Thanks.

Is there some way to mark a post as a "favorite" that can be saved for later retrieval?

Best Way to Rescan Changed Mux Frequencies
Posted by: Lao Pan - 2018-02-07, 10:30 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

Now that the UK DVB-T 700Mhz clearance has started and we are all going to have to re-tune several times over the next year or two - what is the best way to rescan (in NPVR) after mux frequency changes.

I seem to remember i have previously deleted all the channels on the muxes that were changing frequency and then re-scanning with the new tuning ini and adding only the channels required. (lot of dross on UK freeview) followed by checking recurring recordings etc.

Another option which after all these years would be to export the recordings and recurring recording, delete the db and start again.

Any simpler option?

  Switch from MCE backend
Posted by: cdvreede - 2018-02-07, 01:24 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (1)

Hello there - new to forum - in the process of finding an alternative backend for FTA TV from my MCE/Win7/6 DVB-T tuner/ 1Gb cabled setup here in Sydney, Australia. Clients are all Kodi - 17.6 - running on Pi/MiBox/FireTV/Win10/Minix U9. I've set up a testbed Win10 rig with NextPVR and a single tuner, pointed a Client to it and using a Webgrabplus+ scraped guide. Works fine so far...

Rather than testing each and every scenario before switching I hope you guys can answer a couple of Q's I have..

1) I read about NextPVR being able to extract multiple streams from a single tuner locked in on a given frequency. MCE cannot do that. Does that mean that if there are 5 frequencies that I want to use I can cover those with 5 tuners - each of which can be recording one or more streams at the same time?
2) what capacity would a Win10/i3/8GB rig have in terms of concurrent recording and streaming?? My current rig often records 6 streams in parallel will serving a couple of playback streams at the same time - from the same HW using Win7/MCE.
3) NextPVR is capable of writing to a file server rather than local storage - great feature, MCE cannot. How does that work with multiple streams an time shifting?? Running GigE so network should not really be an issue - any other bottlenecks??
4) Does CC (closed caption - australian way) work?? If not, any way of extracting from the .TS file?
4) any gotcha's I should be aware of?? Planning to run a Kodi Client and WebGrabplus+ on the same box with recorded TV onto the file server.

Any feedback much appreciated!!

thnx

D.

  One second recordings
Posted by: jcole998 - 2018-02-06, 03:02 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (18)

I think I've seen this issue discussed before but cannot find it.

Of the four programs I'd scheduled for recording last night, 2/5/18, one recorded OK while the other three recorded for only one second. Each of these programs has one minute of pre- and post-padding.

CBS 8pm Supergirl - 1 second of pre-padding
FOX 8pm Lucifer - 1 second of pre-padding
TNT 9pm The Alienist - OK
CBS 10pm Scorpion - 1 second of pre-padding

And again this morning(no pre-/post-padding):
CMT 7am-9am - 1-second

Tuner is the Hauppauge DCR-3250 Triple Tuner. It was suggested that I re-boot the tuner but that didn't fix the problem.

The log looks normal except for the "glitch" about no tuner available(NRecord.log 2018-02-05 20:59:00.195) yet recording "stops" just one second later for those three programs. I had installed the latest versions of NPVRWriter.ax and NPVRTSReader4.ax that morning. These recordings are scheduled to record after I have signed off.

I had run a test of padding by recording back-to-back (5-min manual)programs on three different channels while watching live TV. That all worked.

Is there a thread resolving this problem? Is there a way to monitor or log what NRecord is receiving at any given time? Where is the data going?

  NPVR Crashes
Posted by: tesla1886 - 2018-02-06, 09:30 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

NPVR is crashing quite a bit on my system. It will crash while watching a recorded program, while fast forwarding or rewinding or while watch a non recorded program. When it crashes during a recorded program, sometimes when I restart that program over again it will crash in the exact same point, other times it goes right past the point where it crashed with out a problem. I can also use the mouse or remote to skip over that part, It happens for shows on different channels but is particularly bad on one channel in-particular. Sometimes I have to use ctrl + alt + del to close the program, sometimes Windows closes it, sometimes I am presented with a dialog box to close to program. This happens in the latest version as well as the previous version.

I have thought about reformatting but think that would be to much trouble, but will do so if that is what it takes.

Is this a known issue and if so is a fix available or planned?

Thank You

  Reduced Channel List
Posted by: tesla1886 - 2018-02-06, 09:19 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (13)

When I change the channel for the first time after starting the software I get a message in the upper right corner of the screen that says reduced channel list. When I change channels some of them are missing.

How to I switch from the reduced channels list?

Not sure if I am posting this in the correct forum, if not I apologize.

Is it possible to "rip" or copy DVDs to a PC hard drive like audio CDs for later viewin. Is it possible to view the DVDs from within NPVR just like a show I had recorded off the antenna.

If this is possible what software (preferably freeware) is the best to use to do so. I would like to have them organized in the following manner:
> DVDs

> Movies

> Genre

> Name of Movie

>TV

> Genre

> Name of TV Show

> Season X

Multiple Antennas
Posted by: tesla1886 - 2018-02-06, 09:02 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (9)

In the area I live a directional antenna is better to use then an omni antenna. However like most people, I am sure, I have aerial signals coming from several directions. Although the antenna I have is adjustable with a remote, in today's world of DVRs / PVRs and / or multiple people watching different channels, I do not think it is optimal.

What is the best way to handle this situation? I have read that it is possible to combine the signals from multiple antennas, but I have also read that doing so could be a problem if the combine signals are out of phase. Has any hooked up multiple directional antennas successfully?

If the signals cannot be combined is it possible to install two capture cards into on PVR?

Thank You
