I've noticed that when GBPVR is on, there is little to no activity on my CPU usage. When I turn on the live tv however, it shoots up to 41%.

I've got a pvr150, 2.8 GHz machine with 1 GB of ram, and radeon 9000 for tvout.

Does this sound right for other people? I thought this was kind of high considering the hardware decoding on the PVR.

I'm using intervideo non-css for hauppauge video and audio with VMR9.

The reason I ask this is because on some channels the live playback is choppy - not all channels however. It is most notable on stations with stock tickers like CNBC and ROBTV. Sometimes I even get it on channel 4 - the TV guide on Rogers cable in Canada. The funny thing is that when I move over to timeshift mode, the playback is smooth. Using wintv2k, the live tv is fine.

What does live tv delay time do in my situation?

Thanks.

I have a 1.8 system, same card/decoders, and mine ranges from 40-60% normally...but I also have post-processing running (ffdshow).

There is no hardware decoding on a PVR150. Everything is decoded in software.

The PVR150 does have a hardware ENcoder, which means you can record with very little CPU usage.

I think I've fixed it. The problem I was that I had de-interlace filter on in the misc tab. Once I put it through to encoder pass through the stock ticker was smooth. I haven't had time to test if it stays that way but the wife doesn't like me taking time from her sitcoms...I'll update later if it doesn't work.

Anyway, when I did this the CPU usage went down to 25% during live tv from 40%. This seems consistent with capones comments.

Well, for those interested here's my set up.

Video decoder - intervideo
audio decoder - intervideo
audio renderer - envy 24

live tv pre-play delay 500ms - thinking of changing it to zero though??

Most important - encoder pass through instead of de-interlace only.

I found that the intervideo noncss for hauppauge caused fast moving playback to be jerky - kind of like ghosting.

Thanks all.

This setting does nothing in live preview mode, but changing it to zero will cause problems in timeshift mode.
