I am running an Asus Pundit with 2.6 Celeron, 200gig seagate, 500 ddr and a Haup.350

Everthing works like a charm except radomly while watching live tv the whole system locks up. I have to hard reboot.

This is my GBPVR.exe log (is that the one I should post?)

Are you using the TV out on the PVR350? If so, this is a known problem that has been discussed many times in the past. Assuming this is the problem, I have no easy solution for you. You could try updating your drivers, or try you PVR350 in another machine. The PVR350 drivers are very prone to this problem.

If I switched to the 250 would it solve the problem?

You can just disable the TV out on the PVR350 by setting the 'hardware decoder' to 'none - use software decider', which would effectively give you a PVR250. This should solve your problem.

Easiest way to find out if it's related to the tv-out is to disable harware decoding on the pvr-350 (in the config app of gbpvr) and run it through tv-out on your graphics card instead. That would effectively turn your 350 into a 250. If the problem persists (which I highly doubt) , it's something else and you'll have to investigate further.

Or, I should start reading new posts before answering to old ones =) Funny we even used the same phrasing =)

Thanks to both of you guys!!!!!

My freeze up problem has been solved. However, picture quality is way down. I have a ton of blurred motion and general digital effect going on in both live tv and recordings.

I am using passthrough, overlay manager and system default. I have tried every possible combination of these that I can resulting in no improvement.

I have a monitor hooked up to the machine and the video on it looks pretty damn good!

Should I toss my 12 year old TV and buy a new LCD or monitor?

I experienced your exact problem. Solved it by using software decoding. *Really* bad quality.

Then I started fiddling with settings for tv-out on my graphics card. Updated the driver. I have settings for "overlay" adjustments. They are only available when an mpeg is running. Fiddling with those made wonders. I changed to another mpeg decoder that is more compatible with my hardware.

Today, my system is usable, to the point that I no longer get annoyed by the low viewing quality. Agreed, it's not as good as the tv-out on the 350, but...

If you were to buy a flat screen (or a monitor), then you would probably be able to use dvi or other monitor cable, and not have to worry about tv-out, hence getting a really great picture. All this is of course depending on your graphics card, if it is old and/or bad, you can fiddle settings until you turn blue ;-)
