Hi, I am a newbie to GBPVR but after trying to get it working for 2 weeks I need help.

I am running it on a XP Pro box that is only accessed via XP remote desktop and am trying to record from a UK Freeview Hauppauge Nova-T USB2. I am using the Showshifter mux.

When I record it only records the first 489,624KB and then quits. All my recordings are this length. This is driving me nuts. I have no screen saver on the machine or other power saving stuff on any of the logon's (inc Admin).

Surely if I'm recording a Mpeg2 source, it should only record one quality, the bit rate it's Tx in? Also, what is the difference between Quick record and normal record ?

If anyone out there has their settings for a similar setup, or just those required for the Nova-T USB2, (esp' if you've got the Freeview EPG working), I would be greatful for a copy of them.

Thanks in advance :-)

I can answer one of your questions. The difference between quick record and record.
Quick record just records the show once, and with all the default settings. If you click record instead, it will give you the opportunity to change the quality of the recording, change pre and post padding, and above all, set whether you would like it to record only this show, or do a season recording (there are a few settings on this, too).
I'm not always right

I dont have a solution for you, but just wanted to say this is the first report I've seen of this, so it must be something related to your setup.

Have you tried a different mux?

Have you tried doing a long recording with the Hauppauge app?

Tried recording in TV2000 (Hauppauge app) with bad results - It looks like using remote desktop is causing the problem - I will try leaving the connection open and recording again.

Thought about it some more. Remote desktop may be causing the problem due to the fact that it cannot open direct draw, overlays etc onto the screen.

I have since tried using Real VNC which although not as smooth as Remote desktop it does open a proper logon with the PC and shares the input/output.

Thought I was so cleaver - but no. Now the thing wont record more than 5 / 6 min's. Tried again with Win2000 but similar problems with added sound sync issues.

Looks like I have no choice but get a screen and keyboard connected up and use the PC properly and see if it records then. If not I think a re-install and start from scratch might be a good idea.

Any other suggestions welcome.
