Anyone ever get one of these working with GBPVR? This is not the typical 45 button Hauppauge remote. It doesn't use IR32 either.

It uses Hauppauge 2.5mm phone plug, not USB. And it is an MCE remote. This is what the whole package looks like.
Now that I think about it, I'll be using an HVR-1600 too, so I can use the 45-button from that with IR32, unless someone can/has used this one before.
My fault for not researching more, I could've saved $20 and gotten the white box instead.

what driver does it use?
that may be a 'consumer infrared' [CIR] device...which would should show ehome driver and work like a mce remote as is..tho may need Haupp. inf from cd..

tho it does look like regular haupp. ir32 type, maybe mce section isn't enabled in the .ini?
[to work with MCE remote...]
try pointing 45 button remote at it and see what happens with ir32 loaded

The one that came with the 2250 is a CIR, but I couldn't get anything out of it.
The 1600's IR receiver works fine (IR32), and both remotes work with it, so I'll just use that. I may need to play with the ini for full function on the MCE, but I still have a NIB 45-button too.
Thanks for the info.

oh, what os? win7 should have drivers that understand that type, but XP may not...vista maybe not also..
IIRC there was a setup just for this type on cdrom, search it for CIR.... i think it doesn't install it normally, may be all you're missing..

my Intel motherboard has one of these built-in but i haven't made/bought a dongle yet..but i will soon..
drivers load fine but i didn't have any leds hooked up, driver inf looks exactly like mce cmds...

but as you see the 1600's eye will work fine, and understands other remotes nowdays...Smile
still i wanna get these working, seeing more around now..

fix: Go to the WinTV V7 installation CD in the MISC folder and run HCWCIRConfig_Tool.exe Put a check in the box labeled “Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-2250”. Click OK to save the changes.

Here's the Reg patch
copy to notepad and save as "Haupp.reg"
__________________________________________________________________________
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Hauppauge WinTV Infrared Remote]
"UninstallString"="C:\\PROGRA~1\\WinTV\\UNir32.EXE C:\\PROGRA~1\\WinTV\\ir32.LOG"
__________________________________________________________________________
RIGHT click on file and select MERGE

Event Ghost will now see the device

I have the same problem. I never tried the MCE remote with my 2250 when I first installed it because my NPVR box was just a server/recorder sitting under the desk in my office. Now we're trying to use it in our entertainment center. The sensor head (plugged into the 2250) lights up bright red when the PC boots (black screen with the windows logo), then nothing. The remote has no effect on NPVR. I tried my Hauppauge 45 button also, because I did make the changes to the IRremote.ini file mentioned in the wiki when I was getting those working with my NMTs. My IRremote.ini is attached. Any thoughts I where I should start? Is there a simple way to confirm my IR head is good and the signals are getting into my PC?

Thanks,
-Brad

Did you try what pBS suggested in post #6 above? Looks right from what I know about these remotes. If it's "MCE" I think it doesn't use the Haup IR32 program, but instead uses the MS ehome IR system. The install recommended by pBS should install this.
