Has anyone had any luck streaming recordings from the new WebAdmin plugin? I can click play on the recording and open the m3u file in Media player, but media player then says connecting down at the bottom and never starts playing the recording.

Just wondering if anyone else esperienced this? Also, I can copy the recorded mpg file to my pc and play it that way.

Thanks

You need VLC media player. Search google for it. Windows Media Player dosn't work.

Unless you have a really fast upload speed you might not be able to play this via the internet. You should be fine on a LAN with 10, 11, 54, or 100mb network. (10 and 11 might be a bit slow).

If your trying to stream over the the net you may wan to look at ORB. (http://www.orb.com) Its a free service that allows realtime streaming of your content from your home PC. It does NOT have any intregration with GBPVR. Its a third party solution but it works really well.
GBPVR Server:
AMD Sempron 3300+, 1gb DDR, 100, 200 & 500gb HDDs, DVD -/+RW PVR150 RETAIL, PVR150MCE.
GBPVR 1.0.16, SKIN'S = Default Blue, PLUGIN'S = None

An alternative to allow streaming over an internet connection, would be to install the Unreal Media server:

I can stream from Webadmin within my LAN.
I use the VLC media player . got it from http://www.videolan.org

When I want to watch from Internet I use orb which was really easy to install and to get up and running to play my recordings and videos.

With all of these options, (I notice you can set VLC to output a network stream as well).

How do you tell GBPVR or webAdmin, "hey don't use this pls or m3u file, go over to this network address ntp:////" and have webadmin or gbpvr pass the mpg file off to what ever streaming server you are using.

I'd like to get stuff out over the internet. I dont care about the live, but would like to request a file from webadmin and stream it at a lower bit rate so i don't kill my upload bandwidth.

at work now -

I think I just set VLC as the normal player for m3u.

And when going to webadmin from another computer on my LAN I click on "play" a recording - a window appears and asks whether I wan't to open the file - click yes and it works.

It does not work so good for me when trying via Internet though - maybe because I do not know how to lower the bitrate.

I tried using orb for a while and that worked fine.
