Collection users wishing a smooth transition to GBPVR v95.11 are advised to defer upgrading the GBPVR core software until the Collection skins have been tested with the new release.

Inorder to make the required changes to the skins, I must upgrade my system. Therefore, I will be seeking volunteers willing to test the changes under GBPVR v94.13.

Please let me know if you are will to be a volunteer.

Happy Transitions,
David

Got home from work, downloaded and installed v95.11. It took about ten minutes and worked fine.

Dropped in The Collection Main Menu, works fine.

Dropped in The Collection TV Guide, works fine.

Dropped in The Collection Search Guide skin, works fine.

Dropped in The Collection On-Screen-Display. Found a small bug that has been there forever. Fixed it, works fine.

Have to leave.

In all, about 30-45 minutes.

I'm keeping a log of my upgrade. Prior to the new GBPVR installation I took a few precautions to insure a smooth transition, I'm conservative. They only took a few seconds to do.

I'll post my log when it's appropriate. Till then, hold tight.

Back later.

Back again.

Dropped in Recordings, Music Library, Video Library, DVD, Net Radio, Weather, and System Status. All are working fine now.

I did find a small problem with one of the popup windows. I have documented the problem and a work-around and posted them to the Support Section of the forums.

I see no changes that should break the skin under version 94.13, so volunteers are no longer needed.

I will be posting the update shortly as well as my transition log.

Please read the transition log before begining your update.

Happy Transitions,
David

This is a log of my transition to GBPVR version v95.11

1. Make sure there are no imminent recordings scheduled.

2. Using the GBPVR config program, disable all plug-ins except TVGuide, Search Guide, Live TV, and Exit.

3. Change skin to Blue.

4. Verify the above changes.

5. Make a copy of the GBPVR directory.

6. Download and install GBPVR v95.11.

7. Edit GBPVR\Config.xml: Change "<AnimateTaskTransitions>true</AnimateTaskTransitions>" to "<AnimateTaskTransitions>false</AnimateTaskTransitions>".

8. If you use Net Radio, edit GBPVR\Config.xml: Change "<UseWindowsMediaPlayerForAudio>true</UseWindowsMediaPlayerForAudio>" to "<UseWindowsMediaPlayerForAudio>false</UseWindowsMediaPlayerForAudio>".
But see this disscussion first! http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=7...ostcount=8

9. Verify system operation with Blue. Post any problems and work-arounds to the forum.

10. Enable aditional plug-ins one at a time using the GBPVR config program. Post any problems and work-arounds to the forum.

11. Download and install the latest version of your favorite Collection skin.

Good luck on your transition!

-David

Just downloaded the Christmas skin and it works really well. The WAF has just gone up in leaps and bounds.

I also have a couple of other plugins installed, the process I followed was:
1. I already installed GBPVR v95.11 and used the blue skin.
2. I copied the blue skin directory to another directory "copy of blue"
3. I renamed this to Christmas
4. I then unzipped your skin over the top, overwriting all files.

Thanks again for all your efforts and I hope this helps others

Quote:7. Edit GBPVR\Config.xml: Change "<AnimateTaskTransitions>true</AnimateTaskTransitions>" to "<AnimateTaskTransitions>false</AnimateTaskTransitions>".
In the next build animation need to be explicitly enabled in the "main menu\skin.xml".

<SpecialElement name="TaskImage" visible="true" animate="true" loc="460,100" size="300,300"/>

Quote:8. Edit GBPVR\Config.xml: Change "<UseWindowsMediaPlayerForAudio>true</UseWindowsMediaPlayerForAudio>" to "<UseWindowsMediaPlayerForAudio>false</UseWindowsMediaPlayerForAudio>".
Why have you done this?

I had the problem discussed here...
http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=7...stcount=79

then "I've fixed this for the next release." made me think it was a bug that would affect all.

Bad assumption?

I'd only recommend people do this if they are having problems trying to use net radio, and only if they are viewing on their desktop (ie, not xcard/mvp/pvr350). Many poeple dont even use net radio, and when they blindly follow these instructions they lose music visualizations.

The problem is if they set this to false, guaranteed it'll be left as 'false' in the future, and those users will miss out on features offered by having this enabled.

Thanks for the clarification sub.

I'm working alot of overtime so I will not be as organized as I was during the last transition. I don't even know when I will be able to do the update.

Bumped this up in case anyone can use the info from last time.
