My MediaMVP menu is quite slow too - and I have a fairly fast setup.

MediaMVP
16port Belkin 10/100/1000 switch
Computer running XP-sp2 with AMD x2 3800 cpu / 2GB ram / raptor drives
CAT6 patch cables

-after my latest GB-PVR reload without any plug-ins it does seem a little quicker.
