MVP Visualizations

This would be a "transcoder" that:

Recieved an audio stream,
and generated an Mpeg-2 video stream with the audio muxed in, suitable for playback on an MVP.

Has anyone ever seen an artifically generated mpeg? Not animated, just the psychedelic results of a numeric process...

I saw something like this, when I was watching live TV, and the recording service started. Picture froze, audio repeated the same *BLURP* over and over, and the guys face slowly melted, as the MVP valiently applied the same transform over and over and over....

So windows media or winamp type visualizations on the mvp? This is something I would definitely like to see as well.

I did this... well, I had a 'workaround'.

I used something called, *I think*, 'Drempels' (google will help), which gave you a psychadelic moving screensaver or - get this - wallpaper.

It looked pretty cool on the pc (you could adjust it so that it wasn't too resource hungry), so what I did is when playing music, I would use XVIEW to switch the mvp over to show the monitor display.

It worked, kinda, but because the MVP only updated 2/sec it looked like a really crappy slideshow.

After playing with it for 10 mins, I never went back to it. Might give someone else an idea, though...?
