plextor tv402u quality setting

so, everytime i change the quality setting to high it reverts to medium. whenever i edit the quality settings they revert to their previous ones. any ideas?

scratch that, the quality profiles can be edited, but i'm stuck on medium. if i select anything else, it'll revert.

also, how come it always records to avi with the mpeg4 format? if i chose the microsoft standard, shouldn't it go to mpg?

Thats normal. You cant change the default. It is always 'medium', but you can edit the medium profile to use whatever bitrate or resolution you want. In hindsight, I should have called it the 'default' profile instead of 'medium'.

ooh, one more question if you don't mind. it says my subscription to zap2it that comes with your software expires in april. is renewal free or do i set up another account? their site seemed kind of sparse about the details of this. i figured you'd be best to ask since you're the one who has the license to distribute

Renewal is free. They just make you complete a survey consisting for four or five multi-choice questions.
