I'm new to GB-PVR and I've been trying to get it to pull the listings from my zaptoit account. It keeps timing out with this error in the Config.exe.log...

ERROR [535] Error UpdateEPG()'ing: The operation has timed-out.

I checked to make sure I don't have any firewalls blocking the communication with zaptoit, so I think it might have something to do with my tv tuner card. I know it's a Hauppauge but I don't know what model it is.

If I set the wrong one in the recording source, will that make it so I can't download the listings or does the download of the listings just require an Internet connection and not necessary a properly configured tuner card?

Also, am I supposed to load in all my channels manually or does updating the EPG automatically load those in when it is working properly?

I also have multiple NIC cards installed (2 LAN's and 1 wireless). Could that be causing the problem, cause I never could find a place to tell it what NIC card to use for my Internet connection. Maybe it's getting confused and doesn't know which one to use?

There should be a serial number on the card, tell me what it is and I can tell you what card you have.

I think you have to have a tuner configured to be able to get the EPG. On another PC I tested this, it has NO tv card but I told it there was a Haup 150 card. It updated EPG just fine. Doesn't mean you have to have a card, just have a card configured. Note that after you set up the card, click OK to get completely out of config.exe. After it restarts the software go back into config.exe and go to your card setup again, there is an option to "update EPG now", and will tell you what it is doing. Depending on your PC it could take a while to update.

Some other things to check:

Login to zap2it manually at http://labs.zap2it.com/ztvws/ztvws_login...-1,00.html , your login expires every 4 months. You don't need to create a new login, just take some silly questionaire then you are good for another 4 months.

Also make sure you are not trying to update the EPG between 2AM-8AM EST. Their server is quite busy at that time. Change it to something like 1PM.

I checked my zaptoit account and I can log in fine and still have plenty of time before it expires.

When I checked my tuner card in my device manager it says, "Hauppauge WinTV 878/9 WDM Video Driver". Then when I ran a service called Prodinfo that installed with my Hauppauge CD, it tells me the model number is "44372 Rev. D223" and the serial is #7115262.

I think my tuner card isn't configured correctly cause I think I have one that isn't even in the list of options in the drop down box under Recording Source > Direct Recording Plugin > Card Capture Type. Whenever I choose any of the Hauppauge options, I get a message that says, "the drivers for the device you have configured do not seem to be installed. Are you sure you want to save these current settings?" I know the drivers are installed though cause there are no errors next to the device in the device manager.

Does this sound like I need to get a different tuner card?

This device isnt supported by GB-PVR.

If you're lucky, you might be able to get it to work with this plugin: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=2753

You'd be better off with a supported card like the PVR150 etc.
