Hello all,

After having lost (through my own fault) the gbpvr.mdb again, I started using XExport in my PostProcessing.bat.

This means the recording information gets saved with each recording, in the ".dat" file with the same name as the recording.

This little tool I wrote will allow you to specify your recordings root-directory, and then it will generate (in that directory) an "XImport.XML" for all recordings that have associated ".dat" information. This file ("XImport.XML") can then be loaded into gbpvr (through the "config" program).
It will automatically recurse through all subdirectories....

The program is very simple, but it has been very usefull for me. Just run "XImport [path to recordings directory]".

Source-code included in the archive.

Hope it benefits someone....

just to clarify, if i was restoring a backup of the GBPVR folder, and this had been running after all my recordings, i could use it to add all the recordings back into the library that i would have lost after restoring the backup?

Yes,

The thing you need to run after the recording is "XExport" (I think it comes with XRecord).

This tool will just create an XML-file of all of your recordings-folder which you can then import in GBPVR.

Only thing I'm not sure of is what happens with duplicates. I'm pretty sure sub will have that handled....

inserting CDK Scheduler plug here....it stores all it's recordings to be scheduled in an XML file. Only thing it doesn't handle is manual and onetime recordings, those are handled by GBPVR's built in scheduler.

I tried that 'back in the day' (early last year), and really with all of the other things I was doing, I never gave it the time needed to work out how to use it. I might check it out again.

God I hope someone develops a fully functional, all-in-one, settings and recordings Import/Export tool. With all of the testing, tweaking, and PVR rebuiliding that I do it would be nice to be able to restore GBPVR's data in one fel swoop. Not because I am lazy but because it would improve the WAF! Big Grin She hates it when I have to do a system rebuild. I'm averaging a rebuild once every three to four months and it's almost that time again... Where's a beer when you need one? Smile

Well,

I do an autoatic full copy of the GBPVR directory (and save the one from the day before as well) after a stop of GBPVR. Then, a compact of my database files, a copy of all log files and a restart of GBPVR.

The backup's been a live-safer a couple of times already.... (I do a lot of stuff from the command-line and I'm sometimes a little to fast with the "auto-complete" function.)

Been a sysop in the beginning of my professional career, some traces still remain Big Grin
