I have 2 machines running GBPVR.

#1 - P4 2.0GHz, 400FSB, 512 MB, MX440 64MB - monitor display
#2 - Cel 2.55GHz, 533FSB, 512 MB, Fx5200 128MB - CRT TV display

Similar speed. Both have separate HDD for OS and PVR data. Both record flawlessly and playback recorded video without an issue. However live TV is where they start behaving differently.

on #1 I can use live preview mode.
on #2 I cannot use live preview as it is VERY jerky.

So on #2 I use timeshift mode. Audio is flawless - video looks like it is dropping frame when the image moves quickly. Just enough to loose WAF points.

Question: What has a greater effect on live preview/timeshift - CPU, grahics, or other? Could re-scalling to TV out be the issue?

PS. Sub, Live preview is set on the 'misc' tab of the config utility, but the delay is controlled on the 'playback' tab. Should they be together - or is this to satisfy your sense of humour? Smile
Core2-E2180, 1G RAM, 1Gb-5450 Silent, 2Tb +300g HDDs.
Three tuners: Twinhan DVB-T x 1, Hauppauge Nova 500T (dual)

DTB Digital SD + HD content (PAL-MPEG2-AC3).
Custom case made very quiet. Zalman CPU cooler.
Sits in rack with other HiFi.

ParaLED to show tuner activity.

The delay is only relevant when in timeshift mode, so it doesnt really make sense to relate them together. When you're in live preview mode, GB-PVR effectively hooks the output of the capture device to the input of the renderer with no additional buffering or delay added by GB-PVR.

Its probably worth comparing the list of directshow filters from gbpvr.exe-native.log on both of the machines. This is most like to show the difference.

Filters are as follows:
(I did a lot of early try-out on machine 1 so it has all sorts or rubbush left over)

I get confused about MUXs, renderers, filters, demultiplexers etc. So I have zipped and attached the logs in case.

Machine #1.

17:05:43.296 VERBOSE Graph contains the following filters:

17:05:43.296 VERBOSE - InterVideo Video Decoder
17:05:43.296 VERBOSE - Default WaveOut Device
17:05:43.296 VERBOSE - Video Renderer

17:05:43.296 VERBOSE - Elecard MPEG2 Video Decoder
17:05:43.296 VERBOSE - MPEG-2 Demultiplexer
17:05:43.296 VERBOSE - DTV-DVBT 878 Digital Capture Filter

Machine #2.

You probably want to compare logs when the two machines are trying to do the same thing, either both doing live preview or both doing timeshift. Instead your logs show one doing each, so its not easy to compare differences between the two. I hope you get my drift.

ok, logical problem solving is it?

Attached are logs with both machines are set to live preview. Timeshift is also initiated towards the end after a few channel changes.

The live preview judder wasn't as bad as I remembered on machine #2. Although sync was really out.
