Well i've used this tool to convert over of 100gig of Divx files to Mpg so I can use them with my Media MVP. After letting it run along time I realised that the screen output was poor, really poor. I've re-worked that now so there is a processing box which has the current information taken from ffmpeg and the second box has the processed information maintained in a list box so you can find out all the information about the files that have been processed.

Everythign else is the same it will still recurse through the directories converting any file with the given extension using whatever arguments you've supplied in the settings. Currently this version ships with what I believe are the best settings for the Media MVP but you could use the crawler to do any conversion that ffmpeg supports.

Heres the latest version - report all bugs here comments / suggestions appriciated.

Ton Wrote:Hey,

In the true meaning of the phrase: "show me yours I'll show you mine", here's what I did.

I do a little more smarts and analyze of the input-file in trying to setup the correct options for the output (not only to scale the size, but also to change FPS, choose audio tracks or overlay subtitles, read DVD images or ripped DVD directory's).

One of the things I finally found out as well is how to preserve the original aspect ratio (by adding black bands around the original movie), so it can be seen correctly on a 3/4 monitor.

It doesn't have the recursing through the directories, but that's not a big deal for me.

I'll play around with your tool over the weekend, and see what sort of feedback I can come up with.

MVPRecoder also requires .NET 1.1 (same as GBPVR). Well, it's the first drop, so you never now. I have been able to correctly transcode all files I had on my disc (about 20 or so).

Play around with it and take what you like (I included source-code for your benefit).

If you do take some of the code from this tool, or make a new version, please make it so it can be run from the command-line. I do a lot of automated stuff from batch-files and yours would be a great tool to schedule in a batch-file and let run for a few hours every night (or until completed). In the morning you can then sort out moving of files etc.

We'll be in touch,

I tried your little tool, and it seems to work a treat. Now I can watch my DVDs through MVP without missing half the movie :-) . Anyway that I can integrate it with something like XDVD so that I can watch a DVD on the fly through MVP without the overscan issues?

Good to hear that it works for more people than just for meWink

Well, that should be possible. I think you should ask the author of XDVD to have a look at my tool.

I included the source-code so other people could take what they liked from the code......

What I'll also do is that I'll also post a message in the "Community Announcements" forum. That may give it a little more exposure....
