tunning assistant "white snow" and changing channels

Hello,
1st, this app is GREAT!
Awesome job, very impressed.

Have: winxp + PVR 350 card.

Now the bad part, it used to work, but channel 2 wouldn't show, (always snow), so i fiddled with the channels, then none of the channel in gbpvr would work.

I uninstalled everything, and reinstalled, same thing.
WinTV2k works perfect, it's channel selector works fine, all is good with the hauppauge software.

I removed all the channels, re-added them, used epg etc.
The tunning assistant (US region, cable select) is showing snow. (static).

Now the channels seem to be working in gbpvr, but tunning assistant is worthless at this point, so i won't use that for now until i understand what's wrong. (again other apps work)
I rebooted the machine several times, reinstalled card drivers (latest from the ftp site (the one recommended here, latest drivers from Dec 2005 i think hcw2_2_0_35_23258_pp2).
I reinstalled directX (just to make sure) and i reinstalled the hcwsmd05.exe.

For grits and giggles I tried using the tunning assistant using a different country and it recognized more channels (wrong, but at least it probed the freqs and did something other than white snow).

Now, 1 thing is concerning me, in GBPVR, if i use the keyboard arrow (up and down), it used to change channels, (live TV), now, it switches but stay on the same channel. Same thing if i select a different channel and click on Watch, it will not change the channel. Very weird.
Mind you, it used to work!

I tried to use the freqcopy, but no avail. same result.
I am running out of option. What can be wrong?
(PS: when i uninstalled, i used the cleaner also, and i made sure to re-register).

Any idea?
The logs dont show much, here's a copy (clean log and tried to change the channel 2 or 3 times using the keyboard arrows then exit).

Reproduce the problem, then zip and attach a complete set of logs and I'll take a look.

Frecopy and some other tv software sets the directshow tuning override registry settings,which can break things for other Directshow applications. This maybe what has happened.

Can you set the logging level back to debug, and then try changing channels a few times, then repost some logs.

Have you seen any apps other than WinTV work? WinTV is a bit of a special case, and doesnt use standard directshow tuning.

oups, and no i didnt try any other software, just wintv and wintv2k.

You know, you may be right that frecopy may have changed my reg. and breaking it. I think it happened at about the same time.
How would i fix that (without reinstalling windows).

I deleted all the entries in the registry.
restarted gbpvr and it works!

all of it!

geez, this freq copy is dangerous

I hope this post will help someone else in the same trouble i was for the past 2 days now. (i looked into so many discussions, nothing good came out).

Basically:
If you have a problem switching channels (using keyboard) and wintv works fine. You may have to check your windows registry.

You're a savior.
only 1 thing i'll have to try again the rss news feeder always use the ticker, which i don't want as it slows alll the way down the computer and the screen on the VGA keeps flickering (probably causing the slowness).
I disabled use ticker for each, yet it is still there. I'll debug that later not very important.
