I did a clean install of Windows 7. I set up the program in config, have all the channels there, and when I click on TV Guide, the screen very briefly goes black like it is going to pull up the TV Guide, but then goes back to the same screen again where I click TV Guide.

Also, as you may remember, I had some problems last year with the program changing the device to PAL. This was solved by going into the direct.ini file and changing the ForceStandard to 1. Well, when I try that now, and try to save it, it says access denied, and how I need the administrator's permission to make changes to the file. Well, I am the administrator. Please help.

Reproduce the problem and post the logs and I'll take a look.

First, i would read this url about file ownership in Win 7. Even though you are an admin you might not have ownership of the file and it will prevent you from changing it. Its easy to fix

http://www.blogsdna.com/2159/how-to-take...dows-7.htm

On the second, i would ensure that you set up your epg properly with your capture source, and post logs after you have tried to access the tv guide. This could help in identifying any issues

Either no channels have been set up, or you're on Vista/Win7 and have problems with the virtual store.

If the latter, either:
- delete the "c:\users\<your name>\appdata\local\virtualstore\program files\devnz\gbpvr.db3" file. The "appdata" directory is hidden, but there. After that, run the config app as administrator to setup your capture source. From then on, hopefully you'll be ok.
- or switch to NPVR which is designed to work on Vista/Win7 and doesnt have this problem.

The channels are definitely set up. I tried pasting that path you gave me, including my name, and it says Windows can't find it. As for NPVR, I did briefly check it out, but it doesn't seem as user friendly as GB-PVR, and I couldn't get it to work.

The "c:\users\<your name>\appdata\local\virtualstore\program files\devnz\" directory will almost certainly be present on your machine. The appdata directory is hidden though, so can make it confusing when browsing to it.

Thats funny because its supposed to be more user friendly than GBPVR, with a much simpler approach to setting up cards etc, and compatible with Vista/Win7. GBPVR had a lot of issues on Vista/Win7, and no longer being changed or having bugs fixed.

If you let us know what issues you had with NPVR, I'm sure we'll be able to help you through them.

Thanks, sub. I was able to solve both problems I had with GB-PVR. I'll give NPVR another look at some point. Thanks again.

Sub, this as a shortcut to automatically enter their user name for them...
"%userprofile%\appdata\local\virtualstore\program files\devnz\"
as that works on both xp and vista/7 to lessen user error..Smile
[tho i'm sure you already knew that]

oh, i see why you do it that way now....lol

I can't set up my capture card with NPVR to watch TV. What are the steps I need to take to get this program to detect my cable TV?
