Hi All

First post so be gentle please!

Please help me out here.

I have a Twinhan Vision DTV DVB-T Card installed in my old machine. IBM Celeron 333 c/w 128Mb onboard grahics etc. Fresh install XP Pro fully updated. I have both the 1.2.3.5 and 1.2.3.6 BDA drivers available (Also some 1.2.2.4). EVERY time I try to install the machine crashes. Doing a manual install results in the same. Twinhan seem to be deaf on this subject and will not talk to me. It appears to be the BDA878.sys driver that causes the crash.

Has anyone else had this problem and is there a way around the problem? I have just spent the last two days trying to get this working and am running out of hair to pull out!

Can GB-PVR do direct support using the standard drivers that install correctly? Is there a plugin that I can use just to make this thing work?

Please help...I am now getting desperate!

Cheers in advance

Jon

Ouch, that'll be way too slow to work with GB-PVR. The recommended minimum is a PIII 1Ghz CPU.

I assume you mean the old DTV drivers - no, GB-PVR requires the BDA drivers. Twinhan seem to be abandoning the old DTV drivers, with new versions of their own software now using the BDA drivers.

Sorry, I know this doesnt help you.

I have a similar problem with the Twinhan DVB-S (102G).
It works fine with the BDA driver 1.2.2.9. Since 1.2.2.9, every time I install a newer version of driver, the computer hangs. I have to remove the newer driver, take the card out from the computer, put the card back, and then install the 1.2.2.9 driver. Everytime Twinhan releases a newer version of driver, I will wast about 2 hours to try to update.

The latest is 1.2.3.6, it improved a little bit. When run the setup, the computer didn't freeze, but when I try to use the device, the computer hangs again.

Twinhan's website is not very helpful for providing technical support information. I hope some wise people in this forum can help me to fix the problem, or I just stay with 1.2.2.9.

Ho Hum people,

Many thanks....looks like the old IBM is destined for lower things. Time to buy a new mobo for my duron 1000 cpu!

Twinhan do not do technical support! This is the last time I buy ANY of their products, and believe me, I will put out the good word about that! I have quite a few friends that are looking at DVB S and T in PCI cards.

From what I see however, GB-PVR is going to get a BIG recommend from me!

Cheers

I have 2 Twinhan DVB-T cards. I think I am using 1.2.2.9 (could be 1.2.2.7) with good success.

There was a time where we had to upgrade with GBPVR because the drivers were always being renamed. But now Sub seems to have some logic in there that looks at the card and the drivers and GBPVR adapts. (well done!)

The point is that there is no longer the need to continually upgrade drivers. It you find some that are stable - stick with them.
Core2-E2180, 1G RAM, 1Gb-5450 Silent, 2Tb +300g HDDs.
Three tuners: Twinhan DVB-T x 1, Hauppauge Nova 500T (dual)

DTB Digital SD + HD content (PAL-MPEG2-AC3).
Custom case made very quiet. Zalman CPU cooler.
Sits in rack with other HiFi.

ParaLED to show tuner activity.

Sad I've just bought 2 Twinham cards (3020C) and when I try to install the BDA drivers the computer freezes (Windows 2000). The driver version I downloaded from Twinhan is 1.2.3.8 Is it possible to get hold of the earlier driver versions to see if these solve my problem?

Good luck.

PS. I think I am now using 1.3.3.4 although I am not at home to check.
