What does the tuning assistant do? I know that it scans through the channels and finds the frequencies, but does it save the values anywhere? Can I tweak the frequencies for a channel to try to get a better signal? Where would I tweak them? What steps do I have to do, like shutting down gbpvr, rebooting?

It doesnt do anything. No settings are changed. I primarily wrote it to give the user of what channels GB-PVR can tune in using their combination of country and tuning type.

GB-PVR usually uses the channel frequency tables defined by Microsoft. There are some places in the world where this is not apprioriate because some broadcasters use non-standard frequencies. If you know the frequencies used by your broadcaster, you can enter these in the place of the channel numbers in the capture source channe list.
