OscarL Wrote:Hi SixGun. I have the same motherboard, excelent. I am just curious, what verison of the NVIDIA Forceware drivers do you use. Read at AVSforum that prople still recommend 84.12 or below. Also what decoder do you use. I still have some problem with stuttering, therefore these questions.
Regards

I finally got some time to play around with drivers yesterday. I am now on video driver 84.25 (i think it's .25, definitiely 84.something). Anyway, it's much smoother now. Watched an entire hi-def Stargate Atlantis and it was perfectly smooth at 1080i. I have a few hidef movies, and they were smoother, but not perfect. I've also slightly over-clocked the CPU-LDT from 200Mhz to 220Mhz.

I am still on the latest OEM Purevideo decoder though. I have auto de-interlace set, and i think i ended up on VMR9.

Hope that helps some.

Regards.

Hi again sixgun,
Have you been able to use Hardware acceleration. In that case do you use the VMR9 custom.

I think i have the "Use hardware acceleration" tickbox checked. That's in the Purevideo decoder settings right?

I'll have a look at my settings later on, when i get home.

I finally got round to checking my settings. I have the hardware acceleration ticked and i was using overlay. I tried out VMR9 and it's very very slightly jerky, barely noticeable.

OscarL: when you say "VMR9 custom" what do you mean? Are you referring to a GBPVR setting? If so, i haven't actually played any hi-def stuff using GBPVR. Currently i'm using MCE2005 itself to play my movies etc.

I'm hoping to integrate GBPVR in somehow.

Hope that helps.

I'm currently using this board K8NGM2-FID in my main computer for office work and games, but will be moving it into my PVR in a few months. The onboard video worked flawlessly for me while i was testing it out and it did come with the SPDIF bracket (MSI must have wised up and decided to send it out initially). I have it's predecessor in the PVR right now, the K7NGM2. I'm using the latest nForce drivers off of MSI's site. The latest off of nVidia's site caused alot of wierd issues and severe slowdowns at times.
MY PVR:
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium
Hardware: Silverstone LC13-E, Athlon II 250, Asrock 785GMH, 2GB Corsair RAM, 250GB WD HDD, 1TB WD Black, Hauppauge PVR-150 MCE tuner (s-video to Dish STB), HDHomeRun (ATSC x2), MCE2004 for Rx, USB-UIRT for Tx, Sony VL600 Remote, 36" Sony Wega HD CRT on DVI to embedded ATI HD4200.
TV Service: Dish Network and Antenna Pics 'n Details

I might give the MSI drivers a go instead of the nvidia 84.25 drivers i am on at the moment.

I had to switch back to overlay last night at it was just not smooth enough to watch comfortably. I was using VMR9.

I'll post my results here.

I have been using VMR9 Custom on the Nvidia drivers and have been getting a few random stutters. Perhaps I'll give a try to the MSI Drivers as well.

Thanks!
